The car is set up for the track rather than our back lanes round here.
It would be nice to see what she can do.

LOL, Vicky, of course you're both invited! As James says, we gotta get that thing on the track! And Dai, it does seem like it would be best suited on the track, although in the quick ride I had, it handled well around the bumpy lanes. It'd be very interesting to compare the different models, then stock suspension, and your unique setup!

B roads is spot on. I have no idea where the breaking point is with the road holding as it just sticks and sticks, one day i'm sure I'll get it to drift nicely.
We'll see how it goes

reallistically its going to be next year - the weather is closing in , and by the time weve organised it - itll be halfway though december .
Anyway , the email was sent , and i keep meaning to follow them up , by all means carry on with finding other venues , you never know what might turn up .
Some air bases hold safety days - basically they close the runway and everybody who signs up , goes for a thrash !!
Ive not yet managed to confirm if outsiders can do it .

I quite like the idea of the bad weather to add to the fun! Wouldn't be as inviting for standing around or having to fix things on the cars though! I had a quick look on ebay and it looks like helmets are easily available at relatively low cost, around £40 for brand new ones which I think meet regulations but not 100% sure, there are plenty available on there for cheap though and we would only need say around 3 as we won't all be on the track at once so could split the costs?

Good idea Ali. I think I should get the gear as I can see us doing a bit more of this kind of thing in the future.
I need to borrow a programming key so I can stop the engine reving much over 7000rpm. I don't want to give this new engine to much agro.

Don't know if anyone else spotted this in the text on the Fast Car mag drift car feature
"......the boys just modify the rear diff by welding it up so its easier to break traction. But you needn't worry about all that as Nev can sort it for you. So all you need is an old shitter, a crash helmet, then bung Nev fifty squids and there will be a track for you for the day."
Ok so not the welding up the diff bit but £50 for a track for the day sounds good to me, its only an oval but i'm sure they'd let us set it up with some cones perhaps? Is it worth me enquiring as Essex is a bit out of the way for most of us,
cheers
