Hi Chris,

I'm planning on going with my 360.

Never been to such an event before, what's the score with entering a car for the judging? Are there any fees? Do you just rock up and tell somebody you want to enter your car?

Cheers,
Steve

Yeah, just turn up (I try to get there around 10 ish normally, can't remember if there is a time stated)

No fees to be judged, make sure you give the boot a hoover and clean out (20% of marks for the boot normally, though no promises it'll be like that this year) same for underbonnet if you want to really ace it, 20% there too.

Hi Steve,

Sorry I didn't get round to saying hi and judging your car before you had to leave, there was a huge queue at lunch that had me waiting for food for ages. Was great to see your car (and all the 300's, were a great standard this year)

No worries, Chris. I had another commitment with the children in the afternoon so had to dash off.

The other 300s all looked pretty decent, high standard all round! Got to chat to Simon who had a blue GLS just to the right of mine.

So which one won the 300 category then?

My Mrs loved the 200 series estates, I can see us ending up with one of those one day, always quite fancied one myself too.

Well, twas the first time I've ever judged 300's (as I normally have one in the lineup) and it was really interesting. Roger Sampsons (the maroon saloon) I knew was nice, I'd have a previous look over it, but it lost to the blue 1.4. I really don't like the riced up ness of all the red bits, but the car is immaculate apart from that, there is *no* rust in any of the usual places (I got a bit keen and each car had a proper look around underneath as well as above to see which were just polished and which were actually maintained   ) and all it's trim inside was immaculate, even down to not a single door card peeling. So, even when the scores that were lost for the red bits were taken away it was still ahead of the game.

Simon's GLS was a nice car, pretty much what I like to see in a 300. It wasn't the prettiest by a margin, but you could see he put time and effort into keeping it sound. He was keen to follow me round whilst judging which whilst I don't normally like, but it was just so a second opinion could be got on his work.

Did you get any pictures? I left my camera at home :s

Dude. Your facial hair is demanding its own topic.

I think we should have a "beard thread"
