Mick - the way it's run, you stand just as good a chance as the young drivers....

I'll bring my car, give it a good clean, but I'm not apologising for the poorer quality paint finish (compared to 2/7/900s) they gave 300s....ie: the main reason mine is a little rusty in places. I put my effort (at least at the moment) into making the car 'interesting', rather than spotless.

The chap who brought that immaculate 340 to the MK meet...it was in beautiful...no, amazing condition....but to me it's still a base-model car (1.4 DL), so my interest is somewhat limited. That's not to take away from his achievement...just stating my preference, and why I think the concept behind the BKV is flawed for many (especially younger) Volvo enthusiasts.

cheers

I think we are on the same wavelength about that... sm4
I'd rather have my quite interesting and upgraded GL with the 3 small scratches and 4 tiny instead of a standard but imaculate 340 or even 360 GLT.
I have no interest in owning any 340 at all, but I really appreciate a very nice one when I see it.
I really like the "340GLT", Mick's Redline and some other 340's I cant think of right now, but I would not want to have them...
When I see a full option MK3 360 I instantly start drewling and checking my bank balance.

Yeap I seem to remember the VOC forums did have something about opening up all attendees cars for display to draw in more interest . I will be attending -have even coordinated a ferry crossing from Rosslare to Pembroke at end of an Ireland trip with my car (base model 360 James -but thanks for tip on carb at MK meet) #

Mickt...are you the chap who had two cars at Milton Keynes - one a 340 (1.7), and then a 360 GLE (B200K)? If so, good to put a 'screen-name' to a face...and the GLE isn't the base model! What was it I said about the carb again?

cheers

It is Eastnor castle, near hereford.

I have posted on the VOC site a lis of parts i will be taking for sale at ridiculously low prices. In addition to this i have just bought the stock from an old main agent who lost franchise. Some of this will be given away on the day as it is just too small to sell. other parts will be a really low prices.

I also have some oe and non gen parts for sale at very low prices.

i am aiming to get their on sat evening for the barbecue but if not very early the sunday morning. it is a simple case of first come first served.

Also available radio controlled XC90 £45.00 ( own battery pack, rechargeable, head lights, horn and sounds)

radio controlled S60 racing £35.00. battery powered with excellent speed and control.

No-one is denying that, but the event does have it's problems. The young driver prize has been a farce for (so I'm led to believe) the last 5-6 years, and although the judges themselves were perfectly friendly, some of the 'old timers' (no reference to age) were a little less gracious when it came to acknowledging that there is more to being a car enthusiast than polishing every last nook and cranny.

Live and let live I say! The young driver prize being awarded fairly to a genuine young enthusiast would go a LONG way to rectifying the situation. It may seem petty, but it has become a symbol of the dis-harmony between the old guard and the new members.

cheers
