We could have a whip-round and put one of our cars onto the track.

Hmm, current lap record for the national circuit is 55.859s, set in 2004 by a Benetton B197. I wonder how close we could get?

You only need a full road license. It costs £135 though, although you can add a second driver for £20.

I've just called Donington and there is no charge to enter the park on Track Zone days.

These from the FAQs relating to track days:
  • Q: Can a friend come to watch and take photos?

A: Yes, but they must follow instructions of any marshall or staff member and must always remain inside the spectator enclosures.
  • Q: Are catering facilities available?

A: For Premier days catering is provided within the Paddock Suite, for all other days the Pit Stop Diner will be open.
I think it would be a good place to meet, given its location. However, if the weather is too bad there could be nothing happening. We'd have to go down the road to the airport and watch the planes come and go instead :?.

Hey, I've spent many a happy hour at East midlands airport, at least there are eateries and big car parks - pricy though :)

True, but surely somewhere we could all get together and talk cares and eat would be more preferable???? Maybe a pub in a village or the outskirts of a town???
