Hmmm thats really not a bad price for Haynes but i'm just worried about a few things, not sure how big the track is but it seems like more of a museum with a small track so not sure how big/high speed it is? Also noticed that only 1 person allowed on the track at once so then the £60 doesn't become so cheap if we're waiting about all day. Obviously i've never been but im just wondering if a proper trackday is more worthwhile.

I recently went with a friend to a Toyota owners club trackday at Bruntingthorpe and although its £50 more at £110 I think it was really worth the money. Open pitlane, as much track time as you want and unlimited number of cars on the track (within reason). The track is 2.1 miles long and ranges from about 30-40mph all the way up to a 105mph corner in my mates Lexus  I'm not sure what other cars would be on the track or how they set it up (the main straights were broken up into bends with cones when I went) but the next one is 3rd June.

On trackdays.co.uk the next Anglesey trackday is 9th June and £140, not sure if they do others?

Bruntingthorpe is a much better idea to me. Haynes is a very small track tbh, probably smaller than a lot of go-kart tracks.

Well if there's any interest I can phone up this week to find out more about it, ask what the track will be like and what other kinds of cars they get there on their usual trackdays, at Bruntingthorpe they black flag you for racing so you can't really go against each other but as long as the track is empty you can push it to the limits completely (Supra span on the 100mph+ corner 720 degree's!) The great thing about Bruntingthorpe is the run off, you really couldn't make a mess of it if you tried!

I think Bruntingthrorpe is a better idea too - I am interested, but whether I'm interested enough to blow £110 on a track day rather than the car itself is the deciding factor!

Right guys, I rang yesterday but couldn't post because some b*stard workmen have cut through both of the house phonelines. They're only meant to be turning the water off but they managed to take the electricity off for the whole day and now the phones, anyway.....

They were very helpful at Bruntingthorpe, apparently on all track days they use the same layout so corners varying from 30-40mph up to 100mph. Up to 25 cars allowed on the track at a time but unfortunately the 3rd June is a Ford RS owners club day and later dates in June and early July are booked up by the Silvia owners club and the GTR owners club so I was advised we would be in the minority. Therefore the next suitable date is 29th July. I was told its £100 (although i've seen £110 on a website so not sure) £25 for additional drivers and £10 for passengers. Although I was told if we book as a club we may be able to get a discount which we can negotiate on the phone.

You have to be there for 8:30-9am to sign on, then driver briefing at 9:30am. Your allowed out onto the track at 10am but limited to 50mph for the first 20mins to learn the track. After that its full speed as much track time as you want until 1pm for a lunch break for the marshalls. Then back out on track from 2pm-4:30pm.

I also asked about the types of car they get there and apparently it ranges from supercars right down to £100 bangers. If anyone is interested then stick your name down and then I can get back to them with a list and discuss what kind of discount we can get if there's enough people. Helmets are also required but they do hire them out if you don't already have one. I'm not sure if/how much more that costs though,

cheers

Hmmmm tempting, but probably a bit too pricey though. Should really spend that on the car to get it working!!

OK, so it looks like Bruntingthorpe seems the better value and sounds like a great day to me.

Lets try and get some names down, cos if we get enough people, Ali might be able to get a group discount. So add your name to the list.

Confirmed names:

I'm up for 'a' trackday...whether this one, or one that the VOC are planning to announce details of soon.

cheers
