And there's nothing wrong with Peugeots!!! The 205/309 GTi were one of the best hot hatches ever built IMHO. And the 406 Coupe is stunning. Not to mention the uber-retrocool 505 v6. Hmmm, I better stop now before you have me committed/beaten/V3M membership revoked ;)

There was nothing wrong with Peugeots. Peugeots of the 80s/90s were pretty good cars with class leading ride and handling, with pretty designs.

Now what have we got... compare the 406 coupe vs the 407 coupe and wonder what went wrong?! Hideous... and they're all now so lardy that they no longer handle as well as the older stuff!

I would never slag down a 205 or 309 gti , they had the same engine as the sm11 BX

But the 407/307/207 are all made with pedestrian safety in mind.

Youll never run over children in those cos the front end scares them off  . Also works with the Fiat multipla, i am i the only 1 who thinks they are cool

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

They sure are one of the ugliest cars of recent years.

[edit]

Just discovered uglycars.co.uk which features quite a few Citroëns that I always thought to be lovely. A 'five paper bag' rating for the DS?!?

Beauty, as they say, is in the eye of the beholder.

[/edit]

[edit again]

Here's what they say about the BX:

They say that an infinite number of monkeys with an infinite number of typewriters would eventually come up with the entire works of Shakespeare. Citroen decided to try this technique with six monkeys and a bag of meccano. The BX took them 12 minutes to make (including a 2 minute banana break).

No Volvos on there, though :D

(Yet)

I should certainly hope so. As well as looking like a dogs dinner, I remember looking at one at a motoroshow when it was first launch, and the trim build quality was absolutely disgraceful!

I'm ashamed to say I actually quite like the 407 Coupe (not as much as the 406 though). Wouldnt say no to one with that nutty v6 diesel lump in it

Brilliant!
I think I'm the only one on here that thinks those citroens are just plain wrong!

edit

Hyundai : ATOZ
When you see one of these things you get the distinct impression that if there was a gust of wind it would simply fall over. It's rather narrow you see. In fact Hyundai would have made it even narrower were it not for a British legal requirement which states that a car must be wider than a standard rear number plate. Even Postman Pat wouldn't drive one of these.

I love this site!

The BX has rekindled my love of 80s/early 90s French cars. The Mi16 engine is pure genius. I just cant get over how fast the car is. And it even has a provokable back end to give you a bit of a smile. After such a relaxing car with the Manta the BX has turned me into a hooligan!

Certainly is... the Mi16 405 I test drove had a glorious engine, even from the short test drive I knew I'd love it - but I had to be sensible and really couldnt trust the seller!

Those MI-16 engines are pretty unreliable though. You have to be really carefull with buying one of these monsters. I blew the headgasket of one, although I always warmed it up before pushing it. The MI-16 was actually the first 16v engine that PSA fitted into a factory car. First 16v... 160bhp..??

I wouldnt say unreliable necessarily. You've just gotta look after them.

TBH I didnt fully trust the BX's previous owner, but for £360 I couldnt resist. The cars has a brand new MoT but one of the front wheel breaings was completely shot (making lots of noise), the other had play in it and there was a major LHM leak - yet it passed with no advisories - hmmmmmmmmm...

I wouldn't say theyre unreliable either, I've seen some for sale when I was browsing with 180-200k miles! But then again, I've vowed never to buy another french car.

I never said they were nice to look at (im not blind!) but youve got to admire the amount of guts they had to put something where form follows function that much. I know 1 person with 1 and he fiercly defends it.
