V3M members in North-East Germany, Poland and Slovakia

Post by sorin_ms66 » 08 Feb 2007 09:09 pm

Good evening/day,

I am going to buy a 340 from a guy living near Hamburg, in Germany, and I`m going to drive the car back to my homeland (Romania), across Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. I do intend to spend about 2 days in the Tatra mountains, on my way back, because this travel will be also a part of my short honeymoon. So I`ll be glad to meet some V3M members living in Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. Please, get in touch with me.

First of all, congratulations on your wedding!

I'm afraid I'm I bit out of your way (Bonn, western Germany) but I'd be very interested in pictures of your trip! I'm off to Romania myself in April in a 360, going via southern Germany and Hungary ...

Thanks for your good wishes. Indeed Bonn is little out of my way, as I planned to drive from Hamburg to east side of Germany (Dresden, Frankfurt am Oder) and then to get in Poland, to visit Tatra mountains (my grand-father have been there during the 2-nd world war).
If I well understood, you have the intention to visit Romania this year, in april? If yes, please let me know some details about your journey and let me also know what can I do for you, in order to have a pleasant stay in my country. Maybe I can help with cheap or free accomodation, some informations etc. Myself I am living in the central Romania, in the south side of Transylvania, but I use to travel almost all around teh country, due to my job (I'm journalist). You may contact me by email or yahoo msg (see my profile).
I hope to hear from you soon.

Hello IvanS,

Nice to hear from a Serbian 300 owner. Maybe is good for you to know that there are several guys from Hungary here, I spoke with one of them on the French section of V3M forum.
Maybe it is not a bad idea to try to have a meeting in eastern Europe (In Serbia, in my country or in Hungary, wherever we will agree). I saw here are also 3 or 4 other Romanians also, but even members from other eastern countries. Anyway, it is a pleasure to hear there are Serbian people, members in V3M. Thank you for your wishes.

got a nice 340-1986 from Germany

Post by sorin_ms66 » 07 Mar 2007 05:12 pm

I just arrived from Germany and I am very satisffied because I got a nice car for its age&costs. The trip took 4 days, but it was no rush. I used the time to study Germany, Poland, Czech Rep, Slovakia and Hungary, to admire the Tatra mountains etc.
I started today to make the car pieces/parts, but obviously I won`t need all the parts, so if someone need something from a 340, 4 doors, B14.4 engine, please let me know.

Glad you had a good trip! Did you take any pictures along the way?

If you've got the space I'd keep any part you can from your 340 donor car. It's always the part you haven't got which goes wrong :-)

Thank you for the idea  Of course I will keep the most of the parts from the donor car. But if a Volvo 300 owner needs something I have, I will not hesitate to help. I am sure I will be helped too when needed.

Hello sorin_ms66!

Just wanted to ask, where in Romania are you based? We're on our way to Romania - staying in Tirgu Mures, Iasi and maybe Bran or Brasov if we have time. It might be an opportunity to meet up!

The trip has been going fine so far, except that while packing the boot one of the hinges of the hatchback parted company with the rest of the bodyshell - one of the hinges seems to be a bit rusty. Am hoping to get it fixed in Tirgu Mures, looks like it'll be needing some complicated welding :-( Right now we're spending two nights in Budapest.

Tom, Foggy has had the boot repair done on Nessy, so he might be able to give some tips and hints. Make sure you get the headling well out of the way! It goes back fairly easily from memory.......

Have a good trip.

Good tip Pete, I'm a bit worried about losing the hatch somewhere along the way in the Hungarian Puzta ... Haven't seen a single 300 on the way down, so it might be a bit difficult getting spares locally.

12 - 13 hour trip onward tomorrow, leaving around 6 am, should be in Tirgu Mures by 7pm ...

Pic of the Volvo staying over in Austria, hatch still in place:
