NEC classic car show
NEC classic car show
hello
Was just wondering if anyone from here was going to the NEC classic car show next sunday? VOC has an interesting stand and 480-club-europe also have a stand. The XC60 concept will also be on display at the MPH show next door (hall 5) on the sunday when both shows coincide

Enjoy your 300s
I went to the Classic motor show and MPH show today. Great turnout, and the the theatre bit of MPH was fantastic. It was presented by Top Gears Hammond, May and Clarkson and there was drifting, noise, stunts and explosions
There were some nice Volvo's on the Owners club stand, and I had someone try and bend my arm into joining. The XC60 Concept was pretty sweet as well.
Also they had a dream rides bit where you could go for a ride in a 'dream car'. I forget how long the drives were, 15-30 mins or so, all that was needed was a charity donation, with set minimums. The minimum donation ranged from about £15 to £100 depending on the car.
I couldn't resist a ride in a 1968 Ford Mustang in Bullit 'Highland green' (It was a saloon instead of a fastback though)
I'll post up a couple pics sometime

Unfortunately it's blurred due to there not being enough light.
Here's a vid from part of the Mustang ride

The roads were a 10 mile or so trip starting and finishing at the NEC if that helps.
Well compared to the 340 it felt fairly fast
The seats were actually more comfortable than the 340 as well, which is a surprise considering how good the Volvo ones are. Wouldn't want to be in an accident in it though what with no headrest and such a low back. Hello whiplash.
The sound really is awesome, and combined with the Ferrari passing it, it's music to the ears. People driving along there and not knowing about the show must have wondered what was up with all the amazing cars passing.

Volvo Heritage has recently moved the following models from the storage facility at Nedcar (the Volvo factory in Born) to Goteborg for restoration ahead of display in the Volvo museum
340 Estate (volvo300club.nl displayed this recently)
340 Coupe (Volvo in Holland book published when Nedcar closed gives the history of Volvo in Holland and shows prototypes, project cars and has a sketch of a 340 coupe. it didnt mention one was built!
340 cabriolet
440 estate
480 cabrio - red prototype, the second of two built
Maybe others but they may still be too secret eg V30 based on first gen S40/V40, the S40R developed by TWR, Volvos city car (like an Audi A2, Smart car/ Ford Fiesta)
I originally heard 10 cars were moved......
