what if you dont want the car judged/assessed etc (I'm not into having my car judged at all!! and arent interested in the prizes etc either)

what if you just want to bring it to the event?

I remember a guy brought the only remaining 264 TE RHD on a trailer one time.

I think if a car is coming to be judged then I appreciate the VOC want to include the clause that it has to be driven - that's cool it's there prize and they can set the rules they want.

but, to exclude anything on a trailer doesnt make sense and I agree it was a shame to prevent Kev's 340 from being shown. It's a volvo meet, show, discuss, view, chat etc etc isnt it???

and.... without the VOC forum it's a huge loss....I hope that is back soon. Its a fantastic archive of info, conversations etc and a good way to get info and advice!!!

I dont think we're bringing the 66 now anyway...too much to do in time! :)
Enjoy your 300s

The rule was written to (rightly, in my eyes) stop the super polishers, but I think it stopped a track 300 (Kev Strong or Mark Higgins?) from being shown, which was a shame.
I agree Chris , a track or race car should be another exception , if its obvious the car is never used on the road like a track car that should be allowed in on a trailer ,

I suppose the rule should be that if the car is capable of having a current mot then it should be driven in

Might help this

From April 2008 Driver Magazine

0900 Ground opens for all visitors
1100 Judging of cars entered into the BKV commences
1300 Last entry for the BKV
1515 Raffle Draw
1545 Presentation of awards

also As before we will have an arena for the BKV competition and a separate parking area for people not wishing to show their cars. It had been hoped to have all the cars together , however this unfortunately would cause problems and health and safety issues with vehicles moving around

cheers mickt

I'll be coming from Belgium.
Sadly enough not in my 343 but in a 850 estate as, everything going to plan, I have to pick up a NOS LH door for a 1976 343 on the way over. Found the thing 3 years ago when I was looking for a NOS 1979 LH door.
Does anyone know of any good scrapyards for 343-480 in the area between Hull, Manchester and Birmingham?
As I am coming over on the Friday I have 2 days to kill and a car to fill.

BTW, What is happening in the club to warant the extra AGM?

Try Googling Albert Looms in Derby, and Salvo in Ilkeston.

The car must be driven into the arena, but it can be trailered to the event. The two race cars weren't road legal, hence they had to be delivered on a trailer.

At the Southern BKV, the cars to be judged were in the same field as the ones which weren't. That felt a lot better than the non-judged cars being stuck out in the car park. Hopefully the same will happen at the national.

cheers

Yes indeed - it will be good to see you! I'll hopefully be in my blue 1981 343....if not a modified 740 Turbo...if not probably my S70 sm56 It depends on what we manage to get finished. I'm currently working flat-out on the 343 to get it done (B200 swap).

Regarding the Extraordinary General Meeting of the VOC...well it's a long and boring story, but essentially the board of directors who are responsible for the business side of running the club have been fiercely criticised for their handling of the internet side of the club's activities. Some members have demanded a meeting, and the hope is that we can express our concerns, hear the board's explanations, come up with some actions, then have a group hug and get on with the important business of enjoying our cars!

cheers

I know the problem. It seems to start the moment one has more than 2 cars...

Hea,hea. That is the spirit!
Running a website is difficult enough as it is without all the other hassles.

A reminder

Post by mac » 12 Jun 2008 12:21 pm

Afternoon (just) all,

Just to remind those for whom I am bringing parts to the BKV.

Gearbox/diff - Adam
Body panel - Adam
Sunroof parts - Pettaw
Body panel - Foggy
Fuse box - Chris C
Recirc parts - Chris C
Rear drums - Shimon
Fuel pump - Shimon
Cavity covers - Jay
Smiths dash - Jay
Elec mirror kit - Jay
GLT spoiler - Jay

Will also have a Mk11 rear wash wipe kit in case anyone is interested.

I have deliberately not discussed prices - as I said in my initial post on these bits I re-aquired my old "mule" to break for "V3M" and am only looking for a "drink". When you have seen the bits feel free to give me whatever you feel they're worth.

I will also have a small number of diff gasket kits (Andy and Steve P)

If anybody needs anything they think I might have - ask - there is still a little room in "Barge".

Looking forward to meeting up with everybody !

Mac.
