Re: 300-series national event
Ok, the route works - it's about 4hrs in length and is approx 130 miles long with a mix of lanes, dual carriages (for panning shots), fast A roads and mountain bits, all through great scenery. There's a cheap petrol station about halfway along for those that may need it. We are booked in at a pub for lunch and the proposed campsite has a pub attached that does good food and is a free house so if it's raining we're sorted for food/beer etc.
I'll post up full details of the start point, route, lunch stop and campsite when I get a minute, but it looks like it's all coming together nicely!

Now...question...do we want a "vote for your favourite cars" competition, and if so...what should the categories be, and what would be suitable prizes?
Group entry to the Tramway Museum is *£9* per head for a normal ticket opposed to the usual £11. The VOC have given me a budget which I intend to use at least in part to reduce the entry fee for members...but you'll need to bring your card. Don't forget!
Yes, Hotel Tent (tm) is still available, and apparantly sleeps 6(!). I make it a comfortable 2, or a slightly less comfortable 4. If people are willing to sleep in the (huge) storm porch (not insect proof), that'll double the capacity. I also have my old tent which I wouldn't trust to keep me dry for a week-long holiday, but will be fine for an overnight stop...that's a good 2-man sleeper.
Maximal thanks to Rupert for his excellent work in plotting out the route and scouting the campsite. From what I've heard so far, the camping facilities will be top notch...well...perfectly suited to a V3M event, anyway! Pub: Check! Toilets: Check! Field: Check!
I think that's all for now. I need to call Crich and the pub / campsite ASAP...but I think we're looking good. The main thing now is to *make sure you attend*!
cheers

I reckon that makes about 13 cars and 23 people for lunch, and 11 cars/20 for camping. Hopefully Tom, Mac and Debbie will stick around for an hour or two in the evening.
That brings me to another point - do we want to have a bbq, or given that the campsite has a suitable pub attached shall we repair there for nosh?

Re: 300-series national event
I unfortunately won't be making this, as I am 300less and could not get it off work.
Can we sort something similar for next year maybe closer to summer?? I will make it and next year should be more open to weekend meets.

Re: 300-series national event
Right, here is the Google Maps plan of the route.
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en& ... b770778e80
It has the salient points and directions on it, but I will be printing out a set of notes and directions for people on the day.
The start point is the BLACK HORSE INN, Main Road, Hulland Ward, Derbyshire,DE6 3EE . It is at the eastern end of the village on the A517 between Belper and Ashbourne and sits in the fork of the Belper road and the lane to Weston Underwood.
Those coming from the west/north west take the A 517 from Ashbourne towards Belper, enter Hulland Ward and drive through the village and just after the road kins to the left the pub entrance is on the right.
Those coming from the east/north east are best to come in from Belper taking the A517 at the north end of Belper by the large brick built East Mill (there's a good carwash in the mill carpark open 9-5). Keep going for about 7 miles and as you enter Hulland Ward the pub car park is just past The Wheelhouse B&B.
Those coming up from the south are best coming into Derby and taking the A52 towards Ashbourne. As you travel through the village of Brailsford there is a turning on the right just after the left bend by the village store that is signposted for Mercaston and Hulland. Take this turning and follow the road for 2-3 miles until you reach a quarry on the left hand side. Just over the brow of the hill past the quarry is a left turn. Take it, follow the road around the sharp right hand bend, down the dip, over the hill by the concrete works and keep going to the T junction at the end. Turn left and the pub entrance is about 600yards along on the right hand side.
Lunch is at the SNAKE PASS INN, Snake Road, Bamford, Hope Valley, S33 0BJ.
The end point and campsite is the KNOCKERDOWN INN, Knockerdown, Nr Ashbourne DE6 1NQ.
Any questions please PM me or give me a call on 07815 543917.
START TIME IS 10am FOR AN 11am DEPARTURE.

Since i only heard about this from Rupert at the weekend (Thanks Foggy!!!), I am already booked to work saturday morning. However, my current plan is to leave work and meet you guys for lunch, and the afternoon part of the drive but if I get held up at work, I'll just meet you at the campsite (James, means I can load up the c70 with tent equipment and drink/food as required rather than you having to take it).
After speaking with Rupert, I was planning to bring two stoves and a couple of frying plans for the morning. Bacon butties can then be cooked as required. If people want, I can take a stop on my way over and bring supplies of bacon and bread for a small fee.
