Way to go John,

just shows that running on 3 different tyres that are all 155/80/13 is not going to catch on in motorsport
maybe Pirellei's marketing people were on to something with "Power is nothing without control"

Still amusing to see a pair of volvo 300s faster than than their engine donors :) (Clio 172) Not F7 engine i know, but still :D

Was awesome meeting like old times. And when i got home checked to see how well the 16v had done on fuel over the trip and returned me an average of 30MPG!!! Well happy considering i had been pressing on at times.

Not to be too picky, but I was actually 8th in class, not 9th. My 2nd session runs aren't shown there, I managed to get 51.18, within 7 hundredths of a second of that 2.0 zetec mk1 escort, in a car which cost less than his throttle bodies :D

I'm surprised you managed the times you did mate, considering the tyre disadvantage. That 172 was camped next to us and we had a bit of chat about power to weight ratios and decided we were pretty much on a level playing field, the clio being about 150kg heavier, so it's satisfying to have thrashed him.

You remember we were talking to phoenixescort before the session, and we agreed 340 chassis were massively inferior? Well, they can't be that bad, as I was only 1.79seconds behind despite having no LSD, cheap toyos, a full interior (inc. big speakers), a big power/weight disadvantage, and some magazines sliding about the floor to distract me. LOL

One of mark's photos illustrates the immaculate standard of that car:

*EDIT*

You're quite the snapper dude, think 340s have body roll?

But I can't imagine the lens you used to capture images of yourself:

Me? A Skoda? There's a story there. The less said the better...

Yes, we had to wait two hours for the AA to do a 2 minute fix...

Pics to follow!

cheers
