March 14th - National Railway Museum York

Post by Chris_C » 19 Jan 2010 12:54 am

We havn't had one for ages!

Format, we all go to a museumy type thing (normally a car one!) we spent a couple of hours perving over rare shiney old stuff. Then, it's off to a local beverage establishment drink them out of coke whilst bench racing and generally taking the p*ss out of Foggy. We normally get a good turnout, and it's always good to put faces to names from here and meet up with old friends.

I propose (as I really enjoyed the last time we went there, and we must be getting to the point we have to double up now)

The Stondon Transport Museum
http://www.transportmuseum.co.uk/

I shall then propose, not the 14th weekend of Feb, nor the 20th (as Valentines, then a Tbricks meet) so hows about the 27th of Feb? Or, if preffered, 1st weekend of March.

As per normal, Tbricks invited and welcomed (as is any other person wishing to get involved)

Whose keen?

Have to be digs for me. 9hr round trip. Google planner of pain suggests about 480 miles down + up.
Fook that in the same day.
Is there nothing closer to the south coast?

I counter-suggest the York railway museum.

Bloody hell, I've just looked, York in past north and out the other side, fully into "ere be dragons" country. Let me get the fuel consumption down a bit before I contemplate that!

York is 2 hours South. Practically the Midlands.

Ok, checked the Oracle of Doom and I can do sat/sun Feb 27/28th. But Speedy says Sats are no good for him. :?
I cant do 1st weekend in March. Late shifts FTBL.

I'd happily do a Sunday like but like you say the round trip would be epic.

I may be keen depending on the date - that Stondon Transport Museum is only 28 miles from me! I can't do 14th Feb as I'm going to try going to the Suffolk VOC meet in Ipswich. Any of the others you suggested are probably okay.

If it's York I'll be up for it, only 30 or so miles for me. Stondon maybe, more like 140 miles. The later the better for me, to get the grey car on the road!
