A month ago I bought a 360 GLT.
I like it. I've only done 300km in it so far, but no big problems.
Minor problems:
Water gets into the rear somehow. Hatch door looks OK. Could it be the vent
behind the back passenger door? Around the rear light looks like it might be
rusting from inside, just slight brown stain with cracked paint.
Also, slight wobble felt through steering wheel at about 100km/h. I had the
wheels balanced, that made it better, but not completely gone.
Also, the rear window demister is disconnected from the wires. How do you
connect the wires?
Rear hatch door rattles.
Thanks,
Brad, Melbourne Australia

The hatch will be the striker plate on the car body needing adjustment. Don't do it too far though, or the hatch won't latch at all

Yep, exams over (and the results are good), but already sooo much to do... But that's off topic!

360 GLT slow wipers
I've now joined this forum, I was recently mentioned as 360GLT in Melbourne.
***My windscreen wipers seem rather slow***
Any common wiper fault that needs fixing, lack of lubrication or bad electrical connection?
Mine has done 138000km, low for a 1986 car.
I find the aircon very effective, also the heater.
It looks like it might have had a new head some time, engine number is not original. Is it true that a broken cam belt causes damage to the valves?
I got a new belt put on, $154, maybe 60 pounds. I don't know when it was last done.
Anyone know what a 360GLT cost new in 1986, in Uk or Australia, or anywhere?
I do not notice it guzzling vast amounts of fuel, I've done about 350km from what looks like 2/3 of a tank. Mostly short trips in traffic.
I ran out of fuel 5 mins after I bought it, spluttering up a hill, refilled with 55 litres. Is that the official tank volume?

Where in Devon are you MJ?
Aircon...you git!
The wipers were slower on the older models...maybe it's supposed to be that way?
350km actually sounds quite *good* for short journeys!! I used to get 200 miles to a full tank in entirely urban, short journey conditions. My MPG meter is currently showing an average of 14.5 MPG!
I'm not sure if the B200s are intereference engines - some redblocks are, some are not. What is the code between the center exhaust ports on the head? It should be 1000530.
cheers

Re: 360 GLT slow wipers
The market value (for insurance is $3500) or therabout, but my first one cost me $6000, my second cost $1300, and my donor cost $300, if you look around on the tradingpost you can find some good condition ones for $2000-$2500 range in australia.brad360 wrote:

They have fairly good milage, 55 litres is the tank capacity, I did a range test with it once, likely would have got 600k's from the full tank, and thats fully loaded (me dad brother and luggage) normally i tend to get 350-400 a tank for city driving(depending on how hard i drive), i've had as low as 200 but that was cause i was driving in the 5000-6000rpm range. and as high as 500k's for city driving(lots of green traffic lights)
Edit: I posted without any content...*sigh*

where is engine number
Where do you find the engine number? On the 360 GLT.
I thought the 1000530 (or whatever it is, something like that) between the exhaust ports on the head was the engine number.
Brad, melbourne, australia
Can anyone point me to some urls about original reviews from magazines, when the car was new? I'm also curious to know how much the 360GLT cost _when new_ back 20 odd years ago.
How common is the multi-cassette player? I saw one in a 1985 or 84 model, I didn't buy it. I thought it was cool, I think you could have 4 or 5 tapes in and select between them. Was this found in other cars?
My 1986 GLT has the original radio cassette, I have not even tried the tape to see if it works. The push buttons don't change the stations, though I can change from AM to FM.

i've never seen a multi casette player - there was a casette storage bin that sat in front of the gearbox - maybe you are thinking of that.
there is a 360 glt review on here somewhere, i'm not 100% sure of costs - however if you look at the french broscures section the costs are on there somewhere

The '530' code is the head model. A 531 head (on a B230ET, B230FB, etc) flows better than a 530 (which was used on almost everything). Not sure about where the engine serial number is...

outta curiosity, will the 16valve head from the B234 fit on a B200 or are they completely different?

Well...here is a topic of much debate (from me...with no good answers!), which the yanks don't seem to want to answer because they never got B200s.
The short answer is that it will fit (ie: it all lines up), but there'll be a bit of mushrooming from the bigger bore on the B234, thus you might burn the exposed sections of HG. Compression might be wierd too. Of course there was also a B204 - you'd just have to get the head shipped from Italy. The B204 head and the B234 head have different part numbers, so I guess they're different(ish).
Ironically, the most powerful redblock from the factory was not a 2.3 - it was a 2.0 (the B204GT - 2.0 16v turbo, with lambda/oxygen sensor, but no cat)
cheers
