i had to brutalise some ancient speaker spady things with a jewlers screwdriver and some pliers to fit onto the sensor end and the loom end just has bare wires folded over...... the needle certainly is the swiftest starter on the dial. the petrol gauge takes weeks to move and the temperature gauge never gets much above C apart from in traffic jams....

might email a compliant to volvo about it.....

It is certainly a swift mover from turning the key, however the econ gauge is normally the fastest moving once it's running on acceleration and decceleration. Well that's closely followed by the fuel gauge heading towards empty!

Vart, I know you've solved that one now... but I'm not sure what the black/white stripey in the fusebox does, but I've never seen it connected on a 300. Sounds like all is well though, so won't bother to get you looking in a different place!

For the econ... from the photo you posted it doesn't look like the ou have a restriction bit on your vacuum hose between carb and head.. the only thing that looks vaguely like it is on the wrong side of the econometer. Don't give up on it, they are still rare bits of kit! Have you tried taking the re circ off of the tpiece and connecting the econ to where the re-circ gets its vacuum from?

i've wondered about doing that, at least i never use the re-circ so if it works it may end up being a permanent feature. two problems facing me however, the speedo cable's plastic holding piece shed a piece of plastic a few days ago so i'm reluctant to temp fate and lose the rest of it tho it still holds its a pig to get attached. also i've broken the feeble plastic breather piece on the head, the bit the hose goes into so taking the hoses off involves taking lots of tape off then re-taping it. so i may give it a miss due to that.

ultimately i should have bought some proper T pieces but in the end i didn't and now the hose is a sham....
