towbar help needed

Post by redline » 19 Jul 2005 01:03 pm

sm14 dos anyone know how the towbar fits to the 1.7 340, I am going to try to get some pics later of the bar I have , it came from a 340 but Im not sure how it fits , I am also trying to get hold of the guy I got it from for help , it has a tube across the back and the fixing brackets have two horizontal holes each side which seem to line up near the rear spring hangers ,then two vertical tubes further back each side that look like they are designed to take long bolts

Hmmm that sounds very similar to foggys style of towbar. It sounds like its supposed to attach to the leaf mounts... as a few are like this.

Maybe this will be helpfull. On the dutch website , click on URL, is shown in pictures how to attach a towbar on a 340.

The pictures probably tell the story

yeah I think I worked that bit out myself Adam LOL

thanks for all the help guys ( as usual)
Its not like the towsure one which looks easier to fit coz its in seperate pieces ( thanks Dave and Daves dad )
it is similar to the one on the Dutch forum ( thanks Honingbij ) but the vertical fittings are actually tubular.
I will have a play next week when the plates arrive and my 7 and 10 year old are at home from school to hold it up for me LOL
