hello volvo's friends. Does anybody know how to change my injection system?? I've got a '90 360 gl with carburator, a solex, and I want to convert it to electronic injection system. Can I do that??? Is that possible??
If anybody knows how to do it, please let me know. thanks
PD: sorry about my english, I speak spanish
carburator to injection
Not very difficult job at all, depends if you go original injection route or alternate aftermarket ecu route. Later is easier, imo.
Getting stuff and prepare all ready takes much more time that actuall installation that can be done less than a day.
You need at least:
Intake manifold with fuel rail, injectors, fuel pressure regulator.
Fuel pump from fuel injection model
Throttle cable from fuel injection model
New air filter box, maybe from injection model, could be easiest route
Consider building new fuel line, put T-splitter to hose that connects two halves of fuel tank together.
Lot of wires and relays.
Aux air valve is very good thing to have too.
Then you need to block two holes from cylinder head, those are carburettor model special, water circulation to intake manifold, fuel injection manifold does not have water circulation.
If you go to original ecu route, then also air mass meter and some temp sensors that I'm not aware of too well.
I have replaced my carb with stock fuel injection and aftermarket ecu, so I don't have air mass meter or those extra sensors.
Now it will be easier to sell car and buy a fuel injection model, it may be also cheaper, but it will not be as much fun and there is not much to learn that way
