360GLT computer

Post by Lonewolf » 28 Aug 2005 12:12 pm

Is there any availible software for the 360 ECU, cause i just opened up my spare one, and it looks pretty basic, just a load of resistors, a few caps, the odd transistor and 4 IC's. (which cant be removed, and i dont want to if i can get away with it). If no-one is aware of any software, does anyone know what pins are for what, I just want to see if the inputs / outputs can be altered safely, to vary fuel/timing functions in a way that is more reliable than the ebay specials we all see (I'm sure we've all seen the add a resistor to the air meter wire and get 20 hp for $20)

[chuckle] In fact a guy came in to work on saturday looking for a resistor for exactly this purpose, he was asked what resistor he needed "Any, I just need A resistor"... I wonder if his car starts anymore or whether he melted pistons instead.

i dont think its programmable in the traditional way - i think you'd just have to replace the ecu

Yeah, well i've been saving up for a motec m600 (I know its seems overkill, but it's something that opens a whole new avenue up, both in this car and future ones) and now have enough to get it, fit it, and pay someone to tune it (but i'm not that lazy that i cant do the last 2 parts myself).

I was certain that you cant send the ECU away to get it remapped, what i wanted to do was figure out the Functions of the unit, and once thats done, Replace the components needed to make Ignition / Fueling adjustable, or if i determine that its unviable, then go ahead and put the new weapon in.

PS : I'm not putting a motec in.... its all a figment of your imagination sm25 and it wont be the reason my car's going to begin to grow some balls... okay? so dont tell anyone sm32

Andy (Pettaw) has put the time into understanding the LE Jetronic system, had some links to a few sites too. It would be possible to tweak, but from what I remember it was nearly all analogue, so a knowledge of circuit theory will be needed to do any adjustments.

For what its worth, a programmable setup such as megasquirt is probably cheaper in time and money, and I know that megasquirt can have cool stuff bolted on too, but I don't know about any of the competition to it.

Generally, MS is the same as the rest of the programmable EMSs, but requires more DIY than usual for installation...but then it is ~1/4 of the price of the nearest competitor I know of...

cheers
