Power Loss

Post by 340_singh » 19 Nov 2005 11:22 am

When i go really fast around a corner and im accelerating throuhg it. The car sometimes clunks looses power for half a second and then comes back to life again. It doesnt stall or nothing.

It seems like the RWD locks or something happens i dnt no is this common?

its also very common as im drifting (in controlled environments) this power lock happens. I also thought could be that i was on low feul and the feul isnt sending to the engine at weird angles. Never had that problem in other cars. But then the volvo is like a 18 year old model!

any suggestions what the f*** this problem is. It doesnt bother me just when your chasing someone and it does that you get left behind and then u have to catch up!

ITS NOT CONVIENT!!!

It does sound like fuel starvation.
It could be the level in the carb float chamber is low and just needs adjusting.

my car does this

(360 glt)

usually only when low on fuel

but sometimes at other stages, i suspect it has somthing to do with the fuel line that runs directly from the fuel tank to fuel pump

i fitted a new hose a while back, but it was too long and thus was kinking itself in order to fit, this caused lots of jumpy driving.

it is still slightly kinked, im thinking that maybe this on hard cornering is somehow managing to kink up worse and preventing fuel from being pumped for a moment

I had that problem when I was giving it some wellie through a bend. Very embarrassing when you're taking on a Mondeo! Cured it with a change of carb. But not the lumpy running - see thread in technical.
It may well have been fuel or critical mixture weakening as I stamped on the gas.
