New toys...and problems

Post by Tero Huikko » 13 Jul 2006 06:59 pm

I just got in my hands a Ardic gasoline powered stand alone engine pre-heater unit with original volvo digital clock panel.

Anyone have a slightest idea where to fit this in B200F 360GLT???

With AC on place and turbo coming, there is indeed very little room left.

Help!

A little progress. I have the digital alarm clock / heater control unit installed.

Here's some pics from the project so far...note the double cigarette lighter :)
The pics are really low quality but at least I have a full tank of petrol... :D

This is the heater unit (on 240 in pic) that I have to fit somewhere in the engine bay...no luck so far

Looking good mate! Lots of people seem to be making use of the ashtray space and surrounding slots at the moment! Nice kit.

Thanks...actually it was the only idea that I had at the moment (double cigarette lighter) but it is in fact handy when on the road for a longer trip.

I can use my refridgerator and still use cell phone charger, GPS-device etc.

Some of you guys had drilled the bottom of the ashtray to get the space in use. There are actually two philips head screws on both sides and you can get the base cleanly away.

I think I have put my battery into trunk because of the lack of space in engine bay...But I also have to find room from the trunk to fit my level control kit's compressor somewhere.

Damn accessories...I wonder how they would've done this at volvo when the car was new if I had ordered it with pre-heater, AC, level control kit etc...

Actually I asked and they ran away...

Yeah, I found those screws in the side of the ashtray too! The only problem was removing them, as even with a right angled screw driver, you couldn't get a complete 90 degree turn so that it would engage in the crosshead screw again for the next turn. And I'd broken my right angled driver a couple of weeks before!

In the boot I've been planning to make a tray to fit the shape of the rear seat, which will house all my extras safely and securely. It's just getting round to doing it!
