Am i being an idiot or is this normal
hey everyone, feels like im posting problems here all too often haha.
im not sure whether this is just me being finicky or its normal, basically when my car is cold it happens alot worse but still happens abit when its up to temperature.
basically when i put my foot down, it takes about 3 seconds when cold and about a second when its hot to actually feel the change, i was thinking this was my mixture but i have had a carb rebuild and set up the mixture so is this just normal?? its a 1.7
Cheers

I don't think there is anything unusual with that specially when you have a manual choke. I had the same thing going on with my B200 on a 360. There are a lot of changes in the engine's temperature the first seconds after you start the car so the engine just has to warm a little bit up before it can run normally.

Perhaps you need to adjust choke? I know my car has serious trouble running cold and one reason is that choke adjustment is way off, second reason is that carb base is badly warped, but I'm afraid to straighten it as last time I did that I lost idle and with that carb I could never get it back even everything is in specs and clean, so this 2nd one stays warped, at least it runs with it

the carb has just been rebuilt and the base has been skimmed, i have set up the choke by what it says in the haynes for the car and it seems to work right, there are no air leaks or anything it idles nice and low with no roughness atall
is there a guide for setting up the choke?
Thanks alot

if any thing a carb car should be more responsive than a standard inj one.
thats what power boost valves claim to achieve, a responce like a carb car..
i have to say mine was always instant responce wise. and if i remember right, the mixture could change it and make a bit of a delay so could be that.

Make sure the acceleration jet is squirting fuelout when you open the throttle.

Just squeeze the throttle linkage with your hand (leave the engine off), you should see a squirt of fuel going down one of the barrels.
