Yeah, it is a per min thing... but why not "x100/min" or "x100min^-1"

"x100 rpm" does seem a tad simpler for a rev counter really, but then only those of a higher average IQ were expected to by the higher models with rev counters :P

Given your descriptions I've definitely got a new School VDO cluster :oops:

Jury is still out on the engine - I'm pretty sure it's a B19 from the 19 prefix on the engine number. Also, I have a sticker for tyre ratings under the bonnet which states B19. Couldn't find any B prefixed numbers on the plate, cylinder head or on the block (might have missed it though, too cold for crawling about underneth my car today!)

I'm probably wrong about this too though :D

If its VDO then I'm pretty sure it'll be B200. Is the cylinder head black with silver Volvo writing?

Ok Ronnie, I've got an acid-test for you. Look at the cylinder head, between the two centre exhaust ports. It says something like..
Volvo
Made in Sweden
1000xxx
...cast into the head. Tell us what the xxx is, and I'll tell you which engine you have :)

B19's have a sidedraught Stromberg carb whereas B200's have a downdraught Solex.

Just remembered...VDO has round leds on fuel and temp meter and Smits has rectangular ones...
