Car is groaning after start up - Any ideas

Post by kelvingenders » 12 Aug 2010 08:54 am

My car will start, but as soon as the starter motor stops....after not turning the key anymore, there is about a 2 second groan, a very dull one. It goes away and doesn't come back until it's time to start again. Can anyone advise what might be causing this"groan"

Could be, i've never heard of one running on before though. How can you tell if you starter motor is on its way out?

The solenoid ine was sticking OFF and ON, depending on what kind of mood it was in.
Mine was a 340 though.
Sticking on for a couple of seconds is nowhere near as bad as sticking off!

When mine stuck on, it was more of a grinding scream than sigh though. :?

Can be, mine stuck on permanently once  Had to dive under the bonnet with a battery cable spanner in hand.
