Common faults on a 2.0E 360 GLT
So having owned my 360 for a few weeks theres a fair few niggling little problems.
Theres an oil leak from somewhere under the bonnet. Only slight but can't figure where it's coming from. Any thoughts as to where it's coming from.
Second, the exhaust rear box seems to knock against the left leaf spring. There's some kind of hook/bracket/rubber missing but having never seen a new one I can't tell whats missing
Third under heavy acceleration the brake warning light flashes on.
Forth, I've been trying to fix my drivers side door opening mechanism. Opens from the inside but not from outside. Think i've found the problem but can't seem to fix it and get it back together.
I'm sure i'll find more problems on my own but are there any other common problems you guys would suggest I look for. And does anyone know about fixing any of the above?

Seriously, it's a 20year old car, and seals and gaskets leaking depend on what works been done to it. Why can't you tell where it is? If it's because the entire engine is filthy, clean it and then look.
I 'll ignore the second one today, as I don't have a GLT atm. Needs moar brake fluid. First question to ask yourself is why is the brake fluid low, you have a leak somewhere. This is a BAD THING (tm) check your flexi hoses for perished ness or more likely have the drums off and look at the sopping wet leaking cylinders. What do you think the problem is? Either the handle silvery bit has snapped and you have to take the handle off the car, or the coat hanger has fallen off the back and you have to take the handle off the car. Thats the easy bit of the job. The difficult bit is getting it all back together with the coat hangers in the right place. And try a Haynes manual, its a good place to start your own repairs.

oil leak - possibly oil filler cap or around the rocker cover, mine leaks and so has every one my dads owned (same engine different volvos)
Exhaust - Has two rubber hangars behind the rear bumper one is meant to have a little metal clip over it (n/s) Has one more right at the other end of the backbox. My exhaust clamp used to rub on the leaf spring too and all my hangars were there :/ I turned it round so the threaded section faced away from the spring and have had no further problems (with that backbox anyway lol )
Brake fluid light - had the same problem, thourght it was some crude shift light to start with. Turned out to be a leaky rear cylinder

Crappy cold starting
Fuel filler hose clips - were the pipe connects to the tank there are two clips that rot, replace them with jubilee clips. there's a thread stickied at the top of the 'engines' section of the forum.
Sun roof if it has one

I've owned mine for a few month now, still love it even if i can fill a whole side of paper with faults and missing parts lol

Made some time today to sort out my door, seems someone has had a go at fixing it before me with no luck. The silvery rocker bit that the handle pulls snapped in my hand now seemingly can't be fixed .
Oh well says I, I'll just nip to asda and get some muffins to cheer myself up. Why am I travelling at 0mph? Ahh my speedos just broken itself too. Joy.
ETA will have the drums apart at some point and look for leaks. My boot struts were also knackered but a lecturer at my college was scrapping a 340. Only thing I managed to get off it before he scrapped it was the boot struts

My sunroof came with gaffa tape as standard. Tried to take a look but the Haynes manual states "to remove sunroof first place in the ventilate position". My mechanism is knackered so I can't get past step 1

Hi Chaps,
I have exactly the same car as Nimminz, just a little bit less nice.
My sunroof is in full working order, but is gaffer taped up, because it still bloody leaks.
Ive checked the drain holes and the seals which appear fine, so Im considering using bathroom sealant!!!!!!!!!!!
Any ideas??????????????

definately not bathroom sealant!!!! there must be another way!
Does the sunroof sit at the right level i.e. flush with the roof?
mine was sitting lower, due to it's broken state, so i had to wedge it up with said foam. I'll grab a pic tomorrow.
other than that i don't know, i'm new to sunroofs.
At one point i did consider getting it sealed because it was that much of a pain. I know now never to buy a car with a sunroof lol

it wont sit flush all the way round, it seems to be very slightly twisted, clear bathroom sealant may be the answer!

yeah mine was like that, dipped down at the rear driver side corner, was a broken white piece of plastic inside, while trying to fix it i broke the other side so it sat flat but about a centimeter below the roof line where it should be.

Will have to take another look at my sunroof but with winter approaching and no garage im reluctant to take it apart unless we have an unseasonal sunny spell.
Horn and speedo stopped working today
Horn is just a blown fuse but no ideas on speedo. Not the same cause as they happened at different times. Any ideas?

Speedo is controlled by the cable at the back. Unhook the speedo cable and sit it so it is in line of sight from the driver seat
1. Drive around the block
2. Is the cable spinning? If not go to 4
3. It's spinning which means it's either not connected to the speedo correctly or the speedo is broken
4. Go to the passenger side, take off your wheel and pry off the hub dust protector - you should see the speedo cable poking out
5. Pull it through with tweezers so that it pokes out enough to stick through the hole in the dust protector - re assemble the hub and put the wheel back on
6. Spin the wheel fast - if your speedo doesn't twitch or move on a test drive then it's likely that the cable is snapped
7. replace the cable

Quite. I purchased one from Amazon for 1p (yes, one penny) plus postage when I got my 360 a few weeks ago. Having never undertaken any form of mechanical work before, I've managed to do an almost complete major service myself, barring the cambelt, fuel filters and brake fluid.
