Pro's and Con's
Pro's and Con's
Sorry about all the questions just trying to learn the car
right what are the pros and cons of running the webbers on the F7R engine?
also what sort of price am i looking at?
and what happens to the fueling side of the ecu?
and would this stop the high idle after a hard drive? (i know this is the speed sensor)
Cheers
Sam

Erm... what? An F7R shouldn't idle high ever (well, it'll idle at 1100 on a cold start and if you *really* go for it will idle at 1100 for about 30 secs to keep the water pump going but I wouldnt consider from 950 to 1100 high. No worse than carbs will be at least.samueljon wrote:and would this stop the high idle after a hard drive? (i know this is the speed sensor)
Webers - £200, Manifold - £100 if you are lucky, Mappable spark system - £not sure, but not cheap, Tuning - £half a day on a rolling road.
My views on running F7R's on carbs are fairly well known on here, so I might not be too helpful though

Re: Pro's and Con's
after a hard drive the car runs at 2000rpm and doesnt settle down unless the car is switched of and started again.
Re: Pro's and Con's
Ok, someone has fiddled with the idle side of it.
Does the ICV go to the same air intake as the main throttle body? There seems to be a necessity of a small pressure differential there so if the ICV is on a separate filter it plays up a bit (my MOT chap mentioned it to me, and it cured a few problems I was having) Once you've done that, the air bleed bypass jobbie on the throttle body is mission critical, there a sweet spot of about 1/8th of a turn between silly high random idles and stalling at junctions.

Re: Pro's and Con's
so its not a speed sensor issue? as it only does this after traveling above 60ish i think
Re: Pro's and Con's
Hold on now, I was always aware that without a speed sensor an F7R would idle high after driving hard. Otherwise what's the point of even having it? I once knocked the cable to mine out and I got these exact symptoms.
Also mag's one did this for a while if I'm not wrong because he didn't even have one?

Re: Pro's and Con's
i dont think this one has one as the bloke i bought it off couldnt find out what was causing it, i think that the issue is the speed sensor ( well the symptoms point to it )
Re: Pro's and Con's
Sounds like it could be either, certainly I've had the issue and that was fixed by doing what I said above, I have a speed sensor.
Might just be a case of tracking down a few different things bud, I had several problems causing my bad idling and took a while to get on top of all of them!

He said, well..... its got is Pros and Cons...
Threadjack ends.

Re: Pro's and Con's
i will look over it, but i dont think it has a speed sensor car idles fine until i go 60 or above then it wont settle back down

Re: Pro's and Con's
That is speed sensor. Dont forget chris your car has always had the speed sensor.

Re: Pro's and Con's
Agreed mate, but Fake showed pretty much identical symptoms when the ICV wasnt plumbed correctly and it had a dubious MAP sensor
