My 340 project
hi i have a 340 but the engine is no good, im thinking of puting a 1.8 8v clio engine in it on cams, also i would like to put 360 runnin gear on it as iv been told it will handle the power. the only problem is i dont no where to start. can some 1 please help
Re: My 340 project
Better off with the 16v if you're going to the trouble of fitting the 8v. 340 running gear will be fine despite what some people will tell you.

The 360 running gear and the 16valve are not compatible.
Strength wise there is little between the 2. Just keep to the 1.7 transmission with the valver and you will be fine.

Re: My 340 project
The 8v will probably go in fine. My point is that for the same effort you could have 150bhp rather than just 110. Plus the noise the 16v makes is just so much more satisfying. If you have a 1.4 then you'll need all these bits off a 1.7:
Bellhousing
Clutch
Flywheel
Sump
There are also some other little niggly things that you'll need probably. If you can get the car to Swansea you could talk to Adam, he will do the work for a reasonable price. I highly recommend him He can also source you the parts that you will need, PM him (user: 340GLT)
