Rebuilt(Remake) B21

Post by Dexter » 05 Mar 2011 11:18 am

Hi! I want rebuilt(Remake) B21E to B21ET , but change pistons is expensive in Russia =). How to reduce the degree of turbo compression pressure 0.3?
I thought I put a second cylinder head gasket, but not sure whether this will suffice. How do you solve this problem? Help me please.
Sorry for my English.
Regards.

2 headgaskets stacked together ain't gonna work. this will make the piston ports closed but the rest of the gasket isn't tight enough, so the oil pressure channel will make oil go everywhere inbetween the gasket, and possibly the coolant too.

what you need is a single headgasket wich is thicker than the original. they might be available at a local parts-store (normaly they're used for skimmed cylinder heads, to keep the compression ratio as close to stock as possible)

"they might be available at a local parts-store" hmm... it is possible to buy in any volvo store for sale or in some special volvo shop? What is it thick?
Thank you!

What B21 do you have - is B21a B21E and what year?

You could have the pistons you have decked to reduce the compression.

I have B21A, but i put on it injection LE-Jetronic. But pistons i don't change, because one piston cost in Russia 100€ !!
On B21A pistont don't have protrusion, so engine B21A have less compression compared B21E , but because on turbo engines compression less compared atmo engines, I'll have to lower it. So I ask the Council how best to do it. You guys are experienced :D
Thank you, and sorry for my English..

The best way to do this with the B21A is to remove the pistons and machine a small amount off the top.

The other way would be by carfully grinding material from teh comustion chamber of the cylinder head. You must take equal amounts from each cylinder and not past the edge of the piston rings. De shrouding the valves and other cleaning of the chamber would help you along the way.

What a local parts-shop?
In Russia sells only usually headgaskets - 1.4mm.
Repair headgasket I could't find in stores... :(
Is there any specific technology polishing the combustion chamber?
Maybe not all places can be sanded? What places can be sanded?
Thanks!

might be worth getting a headgasket, then making a template of than on a sheet of steel and using it in combination with a standard gasket?

всего хорошого ;)
