Current Beast Plan... Like to change every few hours

Post by Chris_C » 21 Jul 2005 02:29 pm

Right.... I said I was keeping some parts from Beast, Current plan is they will be going into a fibreglass shell, and making something damn quick!

Only problem is... the wheels will be attached to a quickrelease subframe. I'm bodging a ski boat ;) Going for an Island scrappy tour tommorow, see if there are any penta bitss around... not sure how mr Volvo used to gaffer a prob on the back of a redblock, but can't be super hard.

Hopefully this will be finished before summer over so I can take her out!

I'd like to see that!
Since you're building a boat, it's little trouble cross the channel and collect your snowcap and get me my leccy stuff...

Lol, now that would be amusing! I can't believe how hard it is to find:

a) Scrapped 300's
b) Scrapped boat hulls

On an island full of both 300's and boats!!?!

You may well be able to get away without this, but bear in mind that the Penta engines use a saltwater cooling system (corrosion, wut?!) to chill the exhaust system the hell out.

Chill the exhaust?? Need to suss out how to badger the exhaust in.... might involve some proper big vertical truck exhausts. (I doubt very much!)

I'm tempted just to take the rad off, and chuck top and bottom hoses over the edge, then flush it when I get home, thats what most boats and jetski's do.

You could make a heat exchange system... that will keep the engine's water channels clean and cool it properly...

I'd definitely investigate what Penta did....you've got a stash of ready-made parts available! I have a few contacts who should be able to sort you out with petrol sterndrive stuff - everyone's now throwing them out to buy diesels (plus the petrols stupid saltwater cooling system rots the cylinder head).

Of course you really need a Penta 2.5 stroker redblock if you're going marine...

cheers

Can you get hold of the gearboxy effort that goes between engine and prop foggy? Been trying to find one. All this is if I do scrap Beast.. theres a glimmer of hope.

And it might have to be played with... but lets get one working first ;)
