340_singh dropped me an email with a picture...here goes...
I reckon with a big custom valance at the front, it will cut wind for good
downforce and will have a cooling affect on the radiator and intercooler.
So im going to make one like this out of aluminium or really light steel.
The light grey area is going to cut out so that the air vents into the bay
like that.
Obvsly this will create a little drag, but for the amount of downforce and
cooling i get its umcomparable.
I would just paint it black so it looked like it was part of the car. In
real life it wouldnt be so obvious, i would make it look very stock. for the sleeper effect

I'll add to that...How about the original bodykit front valance?
cheers

How are you going to attach it? If you're hoping for downforce your going to need to make sure it can hold on.

Speaking from personal experience i really wouldnt gor for aluminium, as the item will be awkward to bolt on especially the way 300 front valances go, i would use either a modified other manufaturers bumper section etc or make a fibre glass one.

not strong enough that fibre glass crap, breaks under such little impact i hate it.
im going to weld it on. anduse riviets as well. Once on then i will be sprayed.
its going to be smaller than that, thats just a rough idea of what i want to make.

Are you planning to shape this wing yourself? I wouldn't underestimate how hard panelbeating is, unless you're well practised in that art!
If you add more layers of fibreglass, it rapidly becomes VERY strong. 4-5 layers and it'll be tougher than an original bumper. Most 'bodykits' are only 1-2 layers thick, including the Volvo one. I'd not discount FG, as it's pretty easy to work with compared to metal. Then again, it is very messy!
It'll be very interesting to see how you get on.
cheers

with a vehicle thats up in the air like that , i wouldnt count too much on downforce !!
i think the std front valance with a 2 inch lip made of Grp / wood whatever would be about right .
who said GRP is shit ? want to have a frank conversation with me ?

Can I have the doors?
Not sure how that would look, I personally think the factory kit works the best out of all styling modifications I've seen (though I would say that). Though it's good for someone to be thinking outside the box, never know how things can turn out

well its going to be pretty straight 4ward cut out the stock valace. get a long flat sheet of metal prepared to be welded onto the front.
weld along the top behind the bumper so welds cannot be seen, that big cut would be already cut out with the lip turned 45degrees scooping air upwards into the car.
weld some side panels onto it. Use FG and filler where needed to smoothen it up and spray it.
should look very stock hopefully. and also very solid. by the looks of it.
hate to be in the persons shoes if i ever ran anyone over lol

I've worked with fiber glass for many years and yes it can be very strong. The problem with the stuff it it does not bend very much. When given a hard knock it does shatter father than bend. As with all materials it is pros and cons. Myself I way prefer carbon fiber as it is very srong and equals less weight than fg.
Carry on go and do something different.

what grp were u using ?
hit anything hard enough and it breaks
carbon fibre would be even worse in this situation

those factory bodykits look the business. They are pretty rare in holland, otherwise I already would have one fitted on my 360. Then I only need PAS and Airco before it's perfect.
Leather, leccy windows and mirrors, snowcap, foglights, open air filter, black roof upholstery. What more do you want? >a 2.3 turbo!

A certain Mr Slater there is reproducing them. Speaking of which, watch this space (well..."offers"...actually...) for word of group buy round 2 (ie: the rest of it!) shortly.

Mr Foggy, with regards to the rest of it, will members of the previous group buy be given first refusal of taking part in stage two? As it would make sense that they can build up the whole kit.
