:(
Has put itself the instrument panel with 360GLT (b200e) 1986 in 340L (b14 3e) too 1986.
At me in 340L was not a tachometer (a complete set-L-), but to me instrument panels identical have told that.
But having put it has seen that the tachometer does not work :( :( :( .

It that that with the instrument panel?
Or such replacement is impossible???

Before stood Pro-sport Type-R 11000 rpm with Flash-lamp (remote) .

L version: possibly no wire for tachometer.

the car has renix (electronic ignition) or conventional ignition?

There is no L version from 340 1986..it must be DL or GL. And it doesnt matter is it DL or GL, there is wires already to tachometer from renix..
There is no wire to tacho if 340/360 is older than 1985..after that all 300s had it :)

But how long did it take for this to get through to Russia?
It's possible that Omar's car would have been registered in '85 had it have been in the UK/Europe

if the tacho doesn't work at all then the car possibly hasn't got the facility, as it should be a straightforward swap

guess it is renix. you can put in the extra wire from connector A on the renix, first connection (grey wire)

do not know the location of the contact on the instrument panel plug.

I think I've got some pictures of the renix plug you need to add the wire too at home, and I should have the same for the dash connector, as thats where I tapped the wire for my dyno hardware. I'll see what I can do when I get home.

Omar, it's only one wire to add if you do have a Renix car, so don't worry, it can be got to run!

Thanks guys for advice.

I on it have a system of ignition - RENIX.

Chris_C if you have an opportunity send me on omardragrace@mail.ru as this wire. Tomorrow all I shall study in details where what wire goes and I shall lay out a photo.

antiekeradio -- thanks for your variant with a grey wire I shall try tomorrow.

d3k4y0 -- my 300 is from Holland I therefrom have driven it :)

simply tuning a bumper new on it I put I have not time to do all.

Thanks

I'm sure I've heard of some late model cars not having the tach wire installed. That's got to be the first line of enquiry.

cheers

I havn't got out to take the photo yet, my camera batteries are shot, as today's photo's of mine and Nick's car proves. Erm, anyone with a green book should have a diagram, its really not a hard thing to wire, only thing I wouldn't be sure on is how you could add the wire to the renix plug if there isn't one there already. If there isn't, one of us can send you a plug from the scrappy, and you would just need to solder it.

Omars tacho trouble

I've e-mailed Omar scans of the relevant 'Green Book' pages (I have most green books for the B14 cars) and I have also mailed him pix of the back of a cluster with a tacho installed with all the connections marked - he should be able to sort things out (assuming the tacho is OK and it is actually a 300 one and not an aftermarket job).

I havn't heard back from him yet but I/we should hear if he is still in trouble.

As a side note on CVT cars you can pick up a tacho trigger connection from the Black wire in postition 8 on the tachometric relay (it uses the same signal from the Renix)

Many thanks and respect Mac for the help.
I have connected yesterday a tachometer on a straight line to the accumulator and a grey wire on Renix.
Most likely a problem in the instrument panel or I have some on another a wire in it are.
Here has made a photo.

The continuing tacho saga

I see Omar has an '84' or '85' car (Renix + Smiths instruments).

I have e-mailed him a checking proceedure for the printed circuit, but he also has a problem with the tach not working for 3-4 seconds on startup so it looks like he has a problem with the unit anyway (unless it's a resistance or bad connection with his 'jury rigged' wiring). Whar chance him finding a Smiths tacho in Russia ?????

Pretty low, at a guess. If I remember correctly, they never sold 300s over there - they're all imports. I do have a Smiths tach, but it was being saved for a rainy day. I'm not at all sure that rainy day will come, so I guess I could ship it out.

cheers

Black wire left connector, next to the gap, or 5 'slots' from the left of the left connector as shown in this picture. That is the tacho wire, so the car is connected. It changes from the grey coming of the renix in the fusebox connectors. Thats really annoying, I'm not sure, but does the regulator affect just the rev counter, or all the gauges? I reckon it'll either be damage to the board (which is visible) that regulator, or something in the counter itself, which seems unlikely. Let us know how it goes Omar!
