Swedish Sound Competition 360

Post by Recoil » 08 Apr 2007 01:40 pm

This is my Volvo 360 GL -86.
The audio system is based on Soundstream products, except from the head unit.
Cabels, conductor and batteries are from Stinger.
I compete in Emma (European mobile media association) and so far we scored second place, one point behind the winner. (apr 6 -2007)

The sound system:

Soundstream 6,5" midrange and tweeter RF 6C
Soundstream 8" midbass SST-80
Soundstream Monoblock Amplifier LW-1.350
Soundstream 4-channel Amplifier LW-4.580
Soundstream 10" Subwoofer RFW-10
Alpine CDA-9855 CD/MP3 player

More pictures of the construction can be wiewed at 300 Power Club. (Swedish 300 forum)

The passive crossovers controls the dashboard speakers Behind the handbrake is the capacitor mounted.

The meeters are rebuilt. The box for the 6,5" speaker had to fit in there.

Well done indeed, unlucky on missing out by only 1 point, but still a great achievement. Looks like a lot of hard work went into that, I also saw the pics on 300 Power and I'm very impressed. Welcome to V3M.

It took five weeks to complete. I spent almost every minute i had in the garage. I had a friend who helped me. Total buildingtime where approx 400 hours.
The gauges are lit by a neon string, 1,5 meters long. It is glued to the backside. There is a space between the meters and the plastic. (3mm)

That depends. In the driver seat, maximum dB we measured was 138. On the dashboard we had over 155db.
This car does not compete in sound pressure level. The jugement is based on installation and sound quality.

Wow, that's looking awsome.

How did you make that? I see PVC pipes, and than? something with kind of foam?

The PVC pipes was coverd with fabric and reinforced with fiberglass.
Then I smouthed out the differences in level with foam and applied another coat of fiberglass.
A lot of grinding and finally two layers of paint.
It took four weeks of sparetime to complete.

More to come :)

Now that's sweet! Is the 10" driver buried in the dash somewhere, or is that large central port for the 6.5"s? Whereabouts are the HF drivers located?

cheers
