How crazy is that!?! Service items are now being deleted! We get the hint, you don't want us to run these cars anymore, it really looks like it is time for a decent aftermarket parts manufacturer to get itself sorted and take on making the parts we need.

I've managed to build up a decent amount of spare parts for myself, but as now it's hard for someone to even find a speedo cable, for someone who is easily put off or can't be bothered with the hassle, a simple problem will result in the car being scrapped, a car that is otherwise perfectly ok.

360 waterpumps were the first warning sign for me. Dizzy caps are a bit of a piss-take, though. Can we find out who the OEM is, and buy direct? Volvo won't make them. For redblocks, it's Bosch.

cheers

OEM is a green cap... 3rd party are normally brown. Looking around atm I can only find brown ones here.

S'ok, to top it off she went through her top hose again last night... Reckon Samco would want to make 1.7 cooling hoses :D I'm just gonna make a silicon one up out of curves and bends, anyone know where to get silicon hose cheap?

Chris....... I've got all those 1.7 hoses for you, and I pulled the dizzy cap and leads as they, along with the rad are practically brand new. The cap is a brown one. Let me know if you want this little bundle!

Luckily for redblocks there are so many aftermarket/performance parts that you can pretty much assemble the whole engine without any Volvo parts if you just have the block.. Oh wait, Sten Parner made some special cast blocks too at some point..

OEM dizzy caps (for the 1.7) are brown surly. Either that or we've had a few non originals put into Volvo packaging

the thing is guys....VOLVO isnt "Volvo" anymore its ford thus breaking that lifetime care..as to ford its a waste of space and money.

and leagally you cant do a thing becouse volvo is FORD which means volvo" doesent really exist.. meaning there is no binding to that lifetime care. so dont blame volvo , blame the ones making the decissions at ford hq!

ive sent 3 letters to ford and they said 2 out of 3 times that surply of parts to older cars(volvo's) had been deemed uneconomical & requests for resurply of parts will be ignored!

they didnt even reply to my first letter....

any way iam p##ssed off with it all had a real bad time of strangly trying to get hold of caliper repair kits.. as a result of this and other things the redlines been off the road since april or so and i probally wont get it back to france before the mot runs out...

Rant over

lets hope we can keep these cars rolling with or without fords support.

Will

It is a bit of a joke, but we can hardly blame Ford for it - I very much doubt it's their influence, yet it always comes back to that argument

Will, Mac posted up a post when I couldn't get caliper repair kits 12-18months ago. Reckon calipers are ~35 here, and the recon kits ~10.

Pete, you are a legend mate, I'll take the dizzy ontop of the other bits I said I'd have (erm, that'll be all of it then I think :D)

I would be very interested from list where are currently available parts with notes in parts that are planned to cancel in year or two time.

Also I have very high temptation to mail them and tell what brand car I will never buy because of their policy, it won't change anything but at least that would be off my chest

I started the conversion of Fake to silicon coolant hose today, much better than the cheap skanky hoes that I kept getting before ;)

Forgot to say, I took some piccies incase it helps anyone (it really is simple, and an 'anyone' job) and hose dia required is 1 1/4" (don't ask me if internal or external, as that'll involved getting up and finding a set of calipers :P) It seems this sort of hose is sold by one dimension only (I'm guessing inner, as thats the only one that matters)

No problem Chris! I'll keep them in a box safe and sound for you, might be down your way one day, or when you're passing.

Hyphose, as I needed some pronto at 11:45 Sat am ;) They are cheap too, I was surprised, corners same price as most internets, and straights look to be about half the price.
