340 1.7 stainless 4 branch manifold

Post by classicswede » 10 Aug 2007 10:40 pm

At last I have had the exhaust manifold for the 340 (its back to a 1.7 engine for a while as the 2ltr is dead :x )

The pics are not great as I have not had good lighting for taking them but you get the idea. Its not ben cleaned up yet as I wanted to see how well it worked first.

It was a twat to make the flange plate fit well but we got there in the end.

I'm very suprised that the 1.7 is pulling low even from faily low down with the 2.5" system on it

I'm tring to make my mind up what I want to do engine wise as I've got loads of different ideas for directions to go :?:

I will need to check later that the carb manifold will fit as well.

2ltr number 1 went very well until sucking in a load of water! :x

2ltr number 2 was crap form day - I put on a spare head that improved things until it started chucking out oil :(

I'm on the lookout for another 2ltr but I'm tempted to do a propper engine build this time for some more go. I'll also need a new prop for when I go back to 2ltr.

Chris something is nearly ready for you :D

what inj is on that 1.7? :P

looks very nice that manifold, i deffinatly think itl be making more power i found on teh dyno how restictive the exhaust is on the 1.7.

anyway, iam told my carb isnt really fueling precisly and its losing me some power/responce. i need fi!! 8)

The inlet manifold is off a early 440 injection. The fuel system is a simple LPG mixer system fitted on. I have also fitted a multi point gas injection system on ready for future plans 8)

I'm convinced the manifold has released a fair pit of poke but a dyno run will not prove much as the engine is very tired!
