15x8 will they fit?

Post by nic 360gt » 29 Aug 2007 11:52 am

3 piece Simmons v4

spec's are as follows:
4x100 PCD
15x8"
130mm from hub mounting face to the inner edge of the rim
centre bore approx 58mm

so being 8" wide makes it approximately 200mm wide (203.2mm) which makes the offset 30mm (correct me if I’m wrong)

After a taking some measurements on the car it looks like the only problem area is going to be the clearance between the rim and the strut tube.
If you put in the standard rim (14x5.5 ET40) and new rim sizes into => http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp it works out that the inner clearance will be 22mm less and the outer edge extended 42mm.

Unfortunately the rim to strut clearance of the stock rim is roughly 18mm meaning the rim would foul the strut tube.

Please tell me I’m wrong because these rims would be awesome

Thanks in advance for those of you who take the time to reply

Looks like this may be the only option. Could get alway with just a 5mm spacer but that wouldn't leave much room for any rubber, so in that case something wider will be needed. For that to work longer wheels studs would defiantly be needed.

Also I think there’s something about wheel spacers being illegal in aus, to stop people using spacers without longer studs most likely. Although i've seen many people still run them regardless. I'd say if done correctly (and stealthily) I don't see why not.

I guess if all else fails i'll just have to hunt down some 7" wide variants of these rims

Few more questions:
* Has any one tried 15x8 rims with 30mm offset and can prove for a fact they don’t fit the fronts
* Are longer studs easily available for 360’s (there’s not some unique dimension or thread pitch)

I've got some 15x7.5s, ET30 which don't rub at all, even with slightly wide 205 rubber.
