360 trim levels

Post by alistairolsen » 12 Sep 2007 11:03 pm

What did each of the many and varied trim levels entail?

Does anyone know weights for the various specs?

That'd probably take quite a while to answer :-) Maybe here's a start:

If you're based in the UK, rest assured that UK-spec 300's had more equipment thrown at them than any other market sm65

Again, very different depending on model year, engine, body shape & spec. The lightest would be a 3dr 1.4, the heaviest a 5dr GLT. Did you have any model in mind?

In terms of UK market mk3 models, here's how it breaks down...

GL - Hatch, usually 3dr. Carb engine.
GLE - Hatch or saloon. Very rarely 3dr, if at all. Carb engine, unless 'Injection' badge added underneath.
GLT - All three bodystyles available. Injection engine.

Weight changes are minimal. The big difference is in bodystyle. 5dr adds about 50kg over 3dr. I think a saloon is a bit heavier again.

Crikey...I'm quite surprised, given the extra length involved. Ho hum...

Maybe a hatch is heavier than a boot lid?

I think that's almost certain...but there's quite a bit of extra metal in a saloon. Clearly not enough to make a difference though!

On a 340, GLE basically has fluffy seats, rev counter, everything that post F plate GL's got. As far as I can see, GLE was replaced with GL, and GL replaced with DL about 89, and then the 340 no trim designation was ex DL

Ok here is another one if anyone knows - does a 1.7 fitted with a cat still have a carb?
I've any seen a couple with a cat badge whilst going past.
