Hi James.

I can see your plan, and I'll help you out in any way I can with info if there should be any questions!
And yes, I have he documentation for the R-sport kit!
I have a "build-in manual", a little red leaflet for the MOT and some supplement documentation for the "build-in manual"!

I'll be looking forward to see your progress on your R-sport replica build 8)

Cheers.

Hi again James.

Yes, isn't it the same kit that you have put on your 360?

Did you get the twin Solex carbs tuned in at a garage at fírst, or did you made a basic tune in first?

Cheers.

Yes, it's the kit I currently have on my 360. I'm putting a B230FT in that, so removing the complete B200'RS', ready to put it in the 343.

My carbs were second hand, but they are definitely from an R-Sport kit. However, the jetting was quite a long way out. Curiously, it was very lean. Perhaps the B19 head (160?) doesn't flow as well as the B200's 530 head? The car could be driven...sort of...but it wasn't much fun. With a little tweaking, I could get the car to run & drive, but it wasn't happy. I had it tuned on a rolling road within a couple of weeks.

I would fit them, and see how you get on...but plan in advance to spend some time with a carb expert on a rolling road. If you don't need that...excellent :)

cheers

Hi James.

My plan was to get it on a rolling road to be tuned in!

It's a nice plan with the B230FT!
Do you have MS or do you use the LH?

Cheers.

I was going to use LH2.4, just to get it up and running, but I'm now thinking of swapping to MS or Haltech as soon as the mechanical issues are straightened out. LH seems fussy, and many people on Tbricks are now finding that it freaks out at high RPM when tweaked. You might not notice it on-road, but the dyno curve is weird!

Interesting....another '81 R-Sport with the 'Oettinger' (where it first appeared) front spoiler. I've also seen '81 R-Sports with the 'standard' front spoiler. Maybe I do have a home for my Oettinger spoiler after all?

cheers

I can make out 2 different types of Mk1 spoiler:

The "splitter" type:

which seems to be the same as the Oettinger and R-Sport ones:

... and the lip-type spoiler:

I think that's exactly right. I happen to have both types to choose from. :? Although my 'lip spoiler' actually looks slightly different to that, I think...

...I'm just not sure which works best. I don't think the Oettinger one looks right with the 1981 / mk2 bumpers. I guess I'll have to get another mk1 for the pre 1980 stuff...maybe use my Oettinger 1.6 kit in it :)

cheers

Oettinger did a 1.6 conversion for the B14.

There were three 'performance' edition mk1s.

Oettinger (1.6)
R-Sport (1.4...with an exhaust)
DLS/GLS R-Sport (2.0 with the twin carbs, etc)

I'm not sure I've ever made a thread about any of them. I have some details...somewhere...about the 1.4 kit (but it's not very exciting!).

Tom made a thread about the Oettinger version. Try a search.

cheers
