360 GLT v GLE ANY DIFFERENCES?

Post by simo » 19 Mar 2008 05:35 am

Hi all,
Hi SteveP - (360 GLT PAS conversion possible? - Volvo Community)

Are there any differences engine wise between the 360 GLT and GLE model? Am i right in thinking they are exactly the same and all parts are interchangable?

Mine is the 360 GLT, i've never seen a 360 GLE close up before  (V3M sin). As i understand this only represents the trim level, what are their differences in trim?

Cheers
Simon

Hi Simon,

There are a few differences, but essentially the GLE is a carbed 2 litre and the GLT is injection, the GLE also has a higher ratio final drive, different interior trim etc.

Were you thinking of a particular part that you want to change? Ie. the PAS system will be identical apart from the PAS fluid reservoir bracket.

Cheers,
Steve

hi

the main difference between a GLT and a GLE is. The GLT is a injection.

The trim is slightly different the GLT model has a better looking interior,

as it is charcoal with grey stripes through.

The other thing is GLT models have a rear spoiler, front skirt and alloy

wheel as stardard.

cheers

GLE interior stays about 5 degrees cooler over the summer though as it's all light grey ;)

Steve's right, on the PAS side, the only difference is the bracket that holds the fluid pot onto the strut top.

I was hoping a GLE would be a potential donor car for all other parts aswell as the PAS lot. Was hoping they would be a straight swap over etc. So, a newer GLT would be the ideal really for the long term.

Yeah Chris you're right about the temp when the sun really beats down, that'll be the head lining radiating down, i ain't got no sun roof either!

some of the mk2 gle had the b19 and were injection same running gear as the glt
power steering is a straight swap although you will need the lower column

Yes indeed - there were "GLE Injection" models in both mk2 and mk3, too.

Mechanical parts should be almost identical besides the intake side of the engine and fuel system.

The chaps are quite right that the brackets for the PAS reservoirs are different. A random but potentially quite important detail!

cheers
