Can you still get ?
People - are there problems in getting front wheel bearings ? - I think I can source parts to make up kits but if still available I won't persue them just yet.
I there are problems I shall do some more digging.
Mac.

I'm none to sure, but I think they've almost disappeared in Volvo form. Dai had recommended against the cheaper alternatives as he'd seen a lot fail prematurely, but I think there was another make that was as good or may have been the OEM for Volvo.
I did both the front wheel bearings on my 360, but I cannot for the life of me think where I got my kits from! They weren't genuine Volvo, but seemed well manufactured and were stamped with a decent make IIRC.
One item that I can think of that will need some thought is the window weather strips. A few people had bought them and were cutting down 3 door ones which are longer to fit the 5 door, as that was all that was available. Well, I bought the last remaining ones in the UK last year and had four more shipped in from Sweden, and they only had one side available then in the 3 door version! As most of them are brittle and falling apart at this age, it's pretty vital in keeping a much water as possible from entering the door in the first place. The question is, are there other vehicles with a very similar design?
Anyway, sorry for the thread jack!

For info the volvo bearings are made up of one part SKF and the other FAG so I asume both of those will continue to produce the bearings.
Cant remember which make inner and which outer

Hi Dai,
Yes, FAG and SKF were the "preffered" suppliers but I've seen Timken used as well. You can get FAG/FAG or SKF/SKF or as you say FAG/SKF (either way round) but from memory Timken always went with Timken.
FAG seem to be the most common.
Inner (large) bearing:- FAG KL44649/610
Outer (small) Bearing:- FAG KLM 11749/710
Oil seal :- BAFL 0251 SFX7 38 52 8 CFW2 (a much more common seal is a 38 52 10 which I think will fit (the 8 and 10 refer to the depth of the seal).

Pete, I wouldn't worry too much about window weather strips... classic car trim/rubber manufacturers are sure to have something that would work for us... having browsed a couple of websites there are many different designs. I had planned to take some measurements of a spare set of old weather strips to email to them, but alas still not got round to it!

I'd hope so Steve, but if it's not exactly the same or very similar it'll be a no go! It only needs to be a tad different and if it's not on the shelf and something that fits a popular classic, then we won't get any they they won't make any for us! Definitely worth emailling someone with dimensions to check.

Pete, I wouldn't stress too much mate, Nick (Nick_C, Jason's car's old owner) got some for his dolly last year, and there were so many different sizes it was silly, same with door seals. Tbh, most would have done the job, some just overlapping the top bit of the door more than others. Blokey then said to just fax an image over with dimensions drawn on, and if he didn't have it, his suppliers had more sizes!

I tought those were std bearing from FAG/SKF so that same bearings will have many different uses?
Last time I needed bearings none of aftermarket shops did not had those, so off to SKF dealer I wen't and bought bearings of certain size, was lot cheaper too
Only trouble was that needed to find all parts separately to make bearing set, also lot of measuring was needed.
SKF is make I trust most, FAG is good 2nd, replacing bearings is not so nice job that I would like to do that very often

If Volvo don't have them anymore, Foggy still has some in boxes he was going to write down the SKF numbers from, so could be worth shouting at!

You may have seen in Varts latest thread that his niose turned out to be a n/s/f wheel bearing.
I used Timken from the supplier below (they have them in stock) but they are happy to supply SKF, FAG, Timken, or even "cheapie" Challenge if you so specify. They don't normally hold 38x52x8 seals in stock but do hold 38x52x10 or 38x52x7. (I have "played around" and find that the 38x52x10 seal is just a little too deep - I used 38x52x7 seals on Varts car and they are fine). If you insist on the "8"s they can get them in 2days.

They can supply "over the phone" or online - and are happy to be contacted for orders of any size.
For the 300 (for both sides) order:-
2x LM11749-LM11710 TRB (outer bearings)
2x LM44649-LM44610 TRB (inner bearings)
2x Seal 38 x 52 x 8 (or x 7)
I bought "over the counter" and the total cost including v.a.t. was £35.44
Mac.
In my experience Timken is a smanufacturer of perfectly good bearings but as noted above EABS are quite happy to supply SKF or FAG.
