flywheel problems :(

Post by mporto » 28 Jun 2008 02:32 pm

heya guys,
has any one swapped the 360 2.0 litre glt, engine for a 1995 940 estate red block lump 230fk?

Ive looked through the forum and search thingy but still couldnt find anything that really helped me, but if theres a post that anyone knows about could you link it to me :).

Im at the stage now where every thing is sorted apart from the flywheel and clutch. I need the flywheel off of the orginal lump for the timing, which i have, but the 360 clutch is too small for the 940 pressure plates and im not sure if the pressure plates will fit in the housing.

Has any one got any ideas or even done the same conversion?

cheers

Are you using the dual mass flywheel? Not sure if this has worked in previous conversions. People usually go for the earlier type flywheel as fitted to the M4x series gearboxes rather than the M90

the 940 fly is a duel mass flywheel, i also have a 360 flywheel but the sensor and markings are different. Would a ealier flywheel still have the sensor markings and need the same sensor

Dual mass flywheel won't fit straight in. If you want to use the dual mass flywheel you need to mill some stuff out of it.

There's a guide in Swedish, but it has some pics also.

http://www.300power.com/forum/index.php?topic=914.0

They sorted the clutch disc issue by using the 900-series clutch but changed the 360 center bore in to the 900-series disc so it fit's then. :P And as can be seen they milled the bellhousing a bit, clutch fork was modified a bit and dual mass flywheel was also modified. The first pic of the dm-flywheel at that topic is the stock one and the second is the modified one.

Check out my older post about the same thing. More detailed info about that stuff and also the easier way to do it. (Using flywheel which fits straight in and has triggering for ignition)

Yeah, ideally you want a flywheel from a slightly earlier 940, which has LH2.4 injection but fitted with an M4x gearbox
