Boot lock cylinder

Post by AJD » 30 Jun 2008 05:08 pm

Hi Guys

I'm sorry my first post is a plea for help but I urgently need to fix the boot lock on my 360. It has been fine up until today when the lock cylinder decided to part company with the housing.

I have had a search on the forum but haven't been able to find an answer, just that it is held in somehow by a circlip.

Does anyone know how to fix it back in place?

TIA

Alex

I've managed to fix my lock for the time being, the problem was a spring pin that had fallen out at some point.

If you look at the lock cylinder it has a small hole drilled in the casing at one end. When I removed the boot handle/lock housing assembly from the boot lid I was able to see that there is a slot in the housing to allow a spring pin to be pushed through into this hole to retain the cylinder.
I didn't have any suitable pins at home so I have used a piece of thick wire cut to length as a substitute and it seems to be doing the job just fine.

Very simple job to do, hardest part was finding a piece of wire thick enough to wedge into the cylinder!

Hope that helps,
Alex
