gauge panel for first type console?
In the parts book of the 343, there is a guage panel, which is different than the one you can fit to a 1979-1980
(it fits the 1976-1978 console)

woops... already got that one (now i see the page you posted i realised)
however, my version does not contain the gauge panel.
the 1978 accessories catalogue has a zoomed-in picture of 3 guages, placed in a triangular fashion.
the image is referenced to as 'guage panel' so I think it is the panel, not the guages themselves, that should be the star of the show there.
(the exterior temperature guage comes back on another page, too)
however, the edges and/or surrounding of the panel are cut off the image....

You're right, the '76 brochure only covers the "pod" type gauges which are fitted to the left and right of the clock, above the dashboard:

It looks like they changed the layout a bit, between parts book and the real-life version. 3 guages is better than one, anyways.
I would love to have a photocopy (or flatbed scan) to copy the dimensions from.
I once did the same for my DAF 55 coupé.
first I fitted the original Daf 1300 marathon console, a bit adapted to fit the coupé-dash. The default console has room for 3 guages (1x 60 mm, 2x 52 mm - just like this panel!!!!)
then I fabricated a "replica" auxillary panel (very rare to find original anyway) from 1 mm steel, wich houses another 3x 52 mm guages.
As the original panel was meant for a 66, I also switched aroudn with the function of the guages;
vacuum gauge 52 mm; 60 mm RPM meter; 52 mm outside temp. meter
3x52 mm: oil pressure, voltage, oil temperature

OK Wouter, give me a few days and I'll check the dimensions for you. It's made of plastic. Initially I'd assumed it fits underneath the radio "chute", but looking at the diagram again in the microfiche, I'm not so sure anymore ...

After much thought and comparison of picture and the console I have here, I think fits under the radio.
the metal bracket can be fixed to the 2 mounting screws of the console itself (where it is fitted to the prop tunnel)
the metal bushes will be fitted between the console and the bracket (to keep the right distance - the screws are placed in a cavity)

I have both the vacuum meter and the exterior temperature meter as the above.
however, my car is a 1978 one, and thus it does not have the 'cap' around the clock, and has 2 ventilation openings where the accessory guages would sit.
So I was looking for a decent place to put them, other than ripping out the vents.
In the 1978 accessories brochure I see the 'ice warner' is a different model from the one in the above picture.

All three holes are 52mm wide (which is great, I always thought it a shame you had to choose between voltmeter, oil temp, oil pressure on the later versions). The middle one has an additional perforation - if you pop it out it increases to around 62 mm (I may be slightly out by a mm or two here, but it measures more than 60 mm?).
