right its started of as just a quiet ticking noise every now and again under acceleration, then when i had a full car it progressed to a whurring noise under acceleration from underneath the back of the car somewhere now it makes a kind of grinding noise under acceleration, my dad seems to think that its the prop shaft, and i think it could be the half shafts as if i get underneath and shake them they rattle and are quite slack, i dont think its my diff as it makes no noises going round corners. could someone please shed some light on this as i dont have a clue what it is and it gets worse every time i drive it and i need it for work. its a 1.4 340 if that helps any.
cheers

Just a completely random idea - have you checked the oil level of the differential, as they have a tendency to leak. I don't know if it would make noises like that though...

Get under the car if you can and check if the prop is loose or if it rotates slightly around the clutch and gearbox shafts, cause when mine gets loose its makes a whirring noise. If all seems good with the prop then look towards the gearbox and diff side of things.
