No go and crunchy grindy noises!!

Post by Aussie 360GLT » 17 Nov 2008 04:13 am

as i was on my way to drop my brother off at work. my brother asked me to lift my foot off the accellerater pedal, as he said he could here a weid noise, then as i put my foot back down on the pedal we heard some loud grinding sort of noises, and i no longer had any accellerationbut when i put the clutch in the noise stopped.

i then rolled into a nearby carpark and once i had the car parked, i tried selecting gears to see if anything would happen. the clutch pedal still felt fine and it selected all gears but as soon as i let off the clutch pedal it started making the noises again, and the car wouldn't move. :(

does anyone have any clue wot this might be as this does not seem like a typical worn/stuffed clutch sort of probelm.

and as i have not yet had a chance to get underneath the car to check it thoroughly, i was wondering if anyone else has had this sort of problem or knows of this problem?? lol.

i have a clutch kit lined up already as i was planning to replace it soon anyway but that this has happened i need to know if theres is anything else i may need to check/replace... lol.

If it happens in all gears it's probably your diff. Try draining the oil and taking the cover off for a look. Could also be the propshaft, maybe the link piece everyone worries about.

+1 sounds like that, apparently that's supposed to sound like a kinda drill noise?

+1 for that, I have heard very different kind of descriptions of how that failure will sound, no sound to loud grinding and banging.
