Long thread but it covers everything. That car's for sale again if you fancy a shortcut to the end result.

i just read that whole thread took me a day lol, just wasnt sure if it was the orig 360 2.0 engine or not, pretty interested in that exact car hence doing research on the lumps and tuning potential ect
so it works then without too much trouble.
can someone point me in the direction of a conversion list ie parts needed from the donar 940t pls
iv tried the search but not alot came up, feel free to post links and il read away
what power do the std internals hold on the 360's?
std gearbox/clutch?

General consensus is that 200 is fine, probably 250. But it's more complicated than that. Lots of low down torque will break your gearbox, and lots of high revs will break your conrods. If you just do what Ali did you should be fine.
IIRC, it was the stock 360 engine, a B200E, with 940 turbo manifold (740 manifold is too big) and tiny turbocharger. Management was megasquirt (which seems complicated but I'd rather build an ecu than try to seperate the loom from a 940). Alternatively you could pull a whole 940T engine from a scrappy and fit that without too much bother (need 360 sump, oil pump, water pump).
Stock clutch will be a bit weak, and the propshaft 'link piece' may break, like this:

Hope this helps.

Cheque, postal order or cash is fine. In fairness, I was a member when Ali was building it so I followed it with interest.volvosneverdie wrote:I.O.FJ - ten squid.

That depends on your definition of trouble. Yup, it works. No, it won't happen in a weekend. Ali put a lot of time and a fair bit of custom fabrication in, stock B200 won't run silly boost but Ali saw 170/180 from it. If you are keen, be prepared to have to do a fair amount of learning if you've never done tuning before, even at the point that car is you can blow things up if you don't have a clue. Having said that, most people want to learn, and the knowledge is here...skipp123 wrote:so it works then without too much trouble.

Yep, plenty of support available on this lovely friendly forum, so rushing in blind isn't the end of the world. (apologies if you are actually Chip Foose and have no need for the ramblings of some volvo fr34kz).

A late B200E has lower compression than a B230ET
We toasted a B230, and we pretty much know what we're doing...we just didn't pay enough attention, and underestimated how easily it could happen at nearly 2 Bar of boost.
Ali's thread is a pretty good guide. Personally, I'd install a complete B200FT or B230FT from a 940 (with 360-isation.....oil pump, water pump, sump, etc). You may also like to convert it to a block-mount dizzy, rather than a head-mount....up to you.
Regarding management....For a low-power application (up to say 225bhp...fairly tame hardware upgrades), I'd run it on LH2.4 with a loom from a 240 (fairly separate to the rest of the car) with 940 turbo ECUs. If you have a look on Turbobricks, a guy who goes by the name of Suterman has just done this. Beyond this, I'd go programmable...and Megasquirt is well proven on these engines. That's what we use on my housemate's 740 which makes pleeenty of power for a near-stock 8v.
cheers
James
