the story goes like this i was out playing in some snow last night and all was fine then when i was on the way home i got a almighty bang and the rear wheels locked up at 70mph lucky i didn't run out of talent and saved it from crashing or and other damage any way i stopped the car and then tryed to drive and nothing then i put it reverse and it drove so i thought mmm try first and see what happens nothing again then reverse again and nothing i can get all gears and hear the box spining and the props working if its the diff do people reckon i could just weld it up and bob's your uncle or does it need a new one i'm going to get in there in a bit when my dad gets out of bed so i can get my tools off him and see what's there

Sounds like the diff - happened to one of my 360's when it was low on oil, if the casing is wet around the end plate, it's likely that the same has happened. Unless it's welded, maybe a bit of weld broke off and jammed between the diff innards and the casing?

You'll be best off replacing the whole transaxle rather than just bolting a new diff on. Theres a white 340 breaking on ebay at the mo.

Depends on the teeth that it munched, but it's not likely :( Plus balance won't be good at all, for the hassle try and find a spare box and diff combo. Most go when a bit of weld get torn off and puts itself between teeth, though Steve's as he said just went dry.

Depends how much you like the car :D Swapping in a new transaxle is an easy job on a 340 though and you wont get much for the car as it is due to it being immobile

All at once. Easy job but you'll need a spare pair of hands and some axle stands.

the only parts that are broke is the 2 small diff gears and the pin in the middle so i'm hoping i can weld it up and make a solid axle we'll see in the morning what happens
