megane 2.0 16v block

Post by nicksonmotorsportltd » 22 Jan 2009 07:48 pm

i have found an engin which is a megane 2.0 16v block (f7r) with a williams f7r head. will this bolt into my 340 1.7
thanks.
also how tunable would this engine be, i take it would be around 150bhp std. what is required to get 180 plus.
i have a choice of either this engine or r5gtt i really dunno which to choose.
thanks

The megane block and williams head will bolt in, do you know if the block is the chain driven oil pump type or the earlier one?
As for wiring if you can get a loom from a clio 16v i can splice it for you.

Well, ive looked at a F4R out of a clio RS 182 (wich has been delivered with 197bhp in later clio's/megane's), and it would fit just as easy. But wiring is a lot harder!

megane 225 is a F4R turbo, and that can get a lot more work into a 340. Here in Holland, there is one for sale now: completly new 225 engine for just 1700,- including turbo and stuff...Would be nice, but first my 1.8 16v finished.

Is the problem with megane heads that they're coil pack ignition (i.e. no dizzy)? there's a one in my local scrappy. Also heard the megane heads have slightly bigger valves, don't know how true that is.
