tuning?

Post by kds19 » 02 Mar 2009 08:24 pm

hi all
well i have had my 1.7 in my 1.4 340 for a while now (still with 1.4 gearbox and diff)
and its quick off the line buts a bit sluggish, i got the car to drift really but enjoy wiping the smile off of chavs faces when they
try to race me in their corsas, saxos and the odd bmw, lol :340:
but my fuel economy is crap and its probs down to the gearbox and diff.
but im in need of tuning advice
now as a 1st year apprentice vehicle painter i dont really have the monies to be buying f7p,f7r or turbo lumps so will have
to just play with my standard 1.7
it will be getting stripped out when i get my welded diff so that will help a bit 340pw

ive heard i could go down the road of injection but would like to know exactly whats bits i would need or be pointed in the direction
of someone who has actually done it
any other advice???
and im forced to do any work myself as i dont have much money at all anddont know any expierienced mechanics or anything like that.
much appreciated

First thing I would do is make sure the carb is fueling correctly as it could be costing you power. If that is ok then there are cams available and an exhaust manifold upgrade could be an option.
