Retrotastic, Tom.

I run all my music through one of these:

Garmin 760T with integral MP3 player and FM transmitter. Next bought an 8 Gig memory card from Japan for less than £20. My music library is more like 30 Gig, but I have plenty of room for all my favourite stuff.

What's the sound like with the FM transmitter on that Garmin Aaron? On the one I have it really is absolutely useless, if as you (and VND) say, they're better now I might try another one ... Right now I'm using one of these tape thingys attached with a cable to my MP3 player - and got no quibbles with that ...

I'm no audiophile, but it sounds pretty good to me considering it's an MP3. The limiting factor is going to be the file compression rather than the hardware anyway.

tbh tom fm transmiters work best with auto tune radio's mines great lol i use it to transmit from my pc to 4000watts of house hifi

also ive found the auto ones get rid of any random "noise" from other interfering stations etc. there has to be some benifit to all the digital crap! :)

I'm sure in my case it was the signal strength. The radio kept switching over to mono ... Playing MP3s through Satnav sounds like a great idea though, I'll keep that in mind :-)

OK, good to know!

For now, I've ended the "digital experiment" ;-) and have gone back to twiddly knobs:

I now have:
station presets
auto reverse
4x8W instead of 2x6W

not bad to be going along with, eh ;-) Oh, and I fitted a nice tape holder (where the extra gauges should be, really) to accommodate the kids' nursery rhymes.
