Rear axle help

Post by ross_striker » 02 Dec 2009 12:33 am

Hi Guys and girls

Right, 2 nights ago i hit some ice and the back started to side at about 40mph towards the kerb... hit the kerb, bent the wheel inwards and now i need a complete new rear axle! sm2

So What im asking here rly is this going to be a "easy fix" or will i also need a new gearbox and propshaft too? or am i going completly wrong in thinking this?

Thanks!

Ross

Just swapping the axle should sort it as the gearbox is attached to the chassis and the driveshafts have some free sidewards movement before they would lock.

Yeah I reckon you'll just get away with swapping the axle tube too

They are slightly different from 360-340 and they have different size drums. I have one of each here if you need one.

Complete rear axle is an easy fix. If you plan on renewing everything while your at it, buy new brakes and maybe leaf-spring bushings. You will need a new flexible brake line and for the rest it's straight forward. Unbolt the leaf spring, unbolt the driveshafts and unbolt the shocks. Thats about it.

Adam- How much do u want for ur spare 360 axle? is it just the shaft or does it come with more?

Where can i get some leaf spring bushes? as mine are on their way out.

Thanks guys!
