Missing bit?
Missing bit?
Just started my car today and found that all the radiator coolant is coming out from the tube here
Larger pic of the area, this pic was taken ages ago,,,seems there is a white tube in there that is missing now??
I tried to get some water into the reserve bottle and all the coolant came out on the tube...
Is there anything missing in there??
will the missing one on mine is the one goes to the reserve tank in this picture????
Where does it go to originally,,surely not going back to the reserve tank in my car
Also the fan behind the radiator is not working at the moment, but sometimes it does....any problems with it???

Re: Missing bit?
As it's a valver... the only real answer is it depends how it was done in the first place. Theres so many variations on what can be done with the amount of inlets and outlets on the stat housing (and a couple of different stat housings I believe) that saying either way isn't going to help.
Best thing is to trace what you have, and draw a diagram of it. You should have stat housing to top rad, waterpump to bottom rad, the 2 heater matrix pipes, the header tank to the top of the rad, and a reflow from the back of the head to the header tank.
With all those, one of the outlets on my stat housing is blocked.

Re: Missing bit?
I checked all the pipes, they were all fine and nothing missing
But the pipe that all the coolant coming out wasn't any of those.
But I found a stopper under my car today (looks like a wine stopper) and it fitted exactly the size of the pipe.
And the colour is exactly the same old white bit in my old pics!
I have tightened the loose pipe with that stopper atm,
but I just wonder what pipe is it??
Will it be fine if I just put a stopper in that pipe??
Cheers

Re: Missing bit?
Yes the 16v clio runs extra pipes as they have a stupidly small rad.
The volvo Rad is bigger and so cools the engine more efficiently, blanking it of so long as the others are done will be fine.

Re: Missing bit?
Okay, I gotta fill the radiator with coolant now as most of it has gone...
but a stupid question to ask....where is the pressure cap so that I can fill the coolant up??
I couldn't find one along the top of the radiator...is it somewhere I missed???
Cheers

Re: Missing bit?
The cap to fill the system should be on the coolant tank?

Re: Missing bit?
