Spoiler help

Post by valman » 25 Feb 2010 09:05 pm

hi guys, i need some help finding/naming the spoiler im after, i believe it is OE to the 340/360 series. basically it just covers the whole corner of the boot all along it. i cant find any pictures of it :(.
the reason im after one is because i have 2 horrible dents right on the corner of the boot and i cant get to the back of them due to the inside panel. thanks in advance : :D

like that one (courtesy of the louvre thread as thats where i saw it on the first link for fitting points)

That's the MK2 spoiler.

The Zender Scirocco spoiler fitted to some German Mk1 special editions goes all the way along the edge to the boot corners.

That might help cover up the nasty dent.

looks like an hour or so going through for sales on the vortex etc is needed...
is there no way to get to the back of the outer skin of the boot? because i dont fancy cutting the dents out and welding in new metal...

Why not just get a new tailgate, they're easy to find and if you've got a Mk3 then theres' not much metal that needs painting. Do like the Mk2 and Scirocco rear spoilers though.

Tom your 343 looks great in that pic as well!

Cheers, Steve :-) The spoiler isn't in that great a condition - but you can't see it on the photos. For anyone interested, Zender did two types of spoiler for the Mk1 Scirocco - a "spoiler" and a "wing". The "spoiler" is the one you want. I can dig out the part no. if anyone wants it ...

I like the way it doesn't really fit the car properly design-wise (see the cutout for the Scirocco's boot release knob) yet it was still an "official" accessory. Volvo Germany fitted them to the Mk1 Oettinger, R-Sport and the Touring special editions. The Mk2 spoiler was introduced later along with the MY 1983 360 GLT but was from then on marketed as a "Mk1 accessory" as well, and they dropped the ill-fitting Zender.

Cheers

Funny thing is though if the Zender Scirocco spoiler didn't have the cut out for the boot lock it looks like it fits with the lines of the car better than the Mk2 spoiler

I think you're right there ... Mind you, the stripes help a bit too.

Tom, do you know what spoiler this is?
the car was bought in germany a few years back & imported to holland, now on the road again

1252184650NP1010027.jpg
1252184515NP1010025.jpg
same story as with the oettinger ones; the striping helps with the design. but i think this is the best suiting spoiler for a mk2

Agreed.
That looks the best of the three. No doubt.

No I don't, haven't seen that one before. The stripes look like the ones on the Oettinger/Touring cars.
